Translator++ Ver. 5.7.31 -

Greetings fellow translators,

I hope you're all staying hydrated in this scorching summer weather.

For those of you who already have experience using CAT, you must be familiar with the term Translation Memory. In simple terms, Translation Memory is like a cache of all the translations you've ever made. In Translator++, you can automatically record organic translations (those made manually), translations made through automation, and even (although it's highly not recommended) machine translations.

If you're using this feature to enhance your translation quality, I've got some exciting news for you! This month, I've made several improvements to the Translation Memory feature in Translator++.

Built-in Database for TM

Previously, you needed to set up the MySQL or MariaDB database first to use TM in Translator++. But now, there's a better alternative – you can use IndexedDB as the built-in database in Translator++. This eliminates the hassle of installing the database, especially for those who are not tech-savvy.

You can select the database from Translation memory options.

For those of you who still prefer to use MySQL, there are many other new features added, and one of them is the recommendation of similar sentences.

Indicators

I've added a cool visual indicator in the form of a light bulb that lights up every time you highlight a row if TM remembers that a translation has been made for the same sentence from that row. Pretty neat, right?

We've also made some improvements for RenPy users.

Actor Reference for RenPy Engine

Now, you can see actor references displayed in the grid or cell info pane for the RenPy engine.

Showing row information

Renpy parser will also automatically collect all actor name references across rpy scripts into Actor Reference. So when you translate an actor's name, it will immediately show up on the grid. Super convenient!

A reference object called Actor Reference is automatically generated upon project creation

Exclude Commands

Another noteworthy enhancement is the "Exclude" command, allowing you to skip specific files during the creation of a new project in Renpy. One of the great uses of this feature is that it allows you to blacklist "old" commands in the Renpy translation framework. You can find more information here: [link] (https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/translation.html).
