Actually, I don't really like drawing comics, as it takes a lot of time if I draw it in my own style.But I thought, what if I try to simplify the drawing style a little for this? I don't know yet what all this will turn out to be, but I'm sure that my inspiration should be enough for a few pages :D

Thank you ^_^ It would have taken less time than usual but I had to experiment and try many approaches so it took quite the same time, haha :D I wanted to try subtractive approach in particular, where you cover all flats with shadow and then proceed to erase it in zones where light should be. I've seen an artist do this once (might have been Norasuko) and it intrigued me, but I wasn't very good at it so I went the old additive way ;) I am satisfacted enough with the result but I think it doesn't convey shapes and volumes very well, so I'd like to improve it by blending shadow borders. The problem is, I tried once, and then I realized I was going full render anyway xD

2021-09-05 09:07:41 +0000 UTCHaha, that's my worry as well! I fear being so attached to my style that I'd start leaning back to it... so I must find a flat style I really like. A good friend, who works as an illustrator and concept artist, gave me a list of Japanese illustrators that were his first references - people like Bengus and Nishimura Kinu among the others (both worked for Capcom). I am trying their styles to see if I can make them mine, I like Bengus' in particular.

I would like to draw some mini-comics, but with my current full-rendered color style they would take ages to make. I'd like to simplify, maybe using flat colors and some shades, but I'm still considerating my options. So I will follow your work with interest! ;)
