My biggest gripe with the volume, the line should have been "i dont need him to hurt, i just need him to DIE!" One thing about how much of the story monty was involved in, he had the initial idea from a dream with the 4 colours, he isnt a writer so he had miles and kerry help. They fleshed out the whole story in a dennys at 2am, even smudged ketchup on a napkin to make the map of remenet, but miles and kerry are the main writers and kerry is still the show runner but monty will always be the creator of the show cause none of it would be possible without his incredible talent.

And at least with Blake and Yang it is very heavily implied that they spent some time just the two together (Yang saying she knows a place to get food in V3 and then the provider knowing Yangs and Blakes order as "the usual") So it's very probable that the others in whatever combinations would have spent time together as well - and possibly talked to each other ;)

I honestly don't know what my favorite volume of RWBY (whether it's a personal fave or what I think it written the best etc), but volume 5 is definitely one of my favorite volumes to rewatch. I've seen it sooo many times it's ridiculous. Can't wait for volume 6 though!!!!

2025-10-26 16:15:46 +0000 UTCYeah, like we met black after/when she leaves the WF so we don't get any actual knowledge of what she did Vs we're there for when ilia defects and see some stuff which includes her going after Blake and family so people jump to "leave her alone your evil" which is sad, it's similar to how I feel about Whitely tbh... I'm really looking forward to a few specific moments further on but especially *that* one will weiss in v7 C8(I think)

2025-10-25 03:41:59 +0000 UTCI think what they were going for with moving his hands was a sort of (very real) human reaction of wanting to see the injury, even if it's not the most logical action. Though I think it's also for the audience, so that we can see that there isn't a gaping hole in Weiss, but instead we can see flesh, implying the wound is already closed. But yes, I also think the scene is ridiculous as it's presented :D

Obligatory mention of the fact that the song incorporates both Cinder and Raven's themes ('Black out the sky' is Cinder's melody, 'All things must die' is Raven's), making it the second song to be based on previously established music from the score :D

2025-10-24 22:33:52 +0000 UTCOne of the extremely interesting things about Raven being Spring is that it makes earlier conversations about the Spring Maiden very obvious that typically no one asked what the Spring Maiden wanted. For example - when Qrow wanted to know where the Spring Maiden was - he didn't ask to speak with her. He just wanted to know where she was. In front of him it turns out. And saying no to bring involved. Similarly in this volume - Qrow and Lionheart talks about retrieving the Maiden from Raven. Which if Vernal was the Maiden then that's a really soft way of saying abduction. Which makes it really work well that Yang gets the Relic from Raven. It was an actual argument of ideals and principles - not the planned attack on the camp. Because yeah - Raven said she didn't want to be involved. And Ozpin doesn't tell people all the information before he drags them into the mess. See Pyrrha. Yang wins - and let's Raven out of the "You said yes (before you were told the details) when you were a student. You fight in this war until you die." Paradigm that Ozpin and Qrow have been setting up
