2025-09-28 22:09:44 +0000 UTCI have to say about the "putting the pieces together yourself" point, as mortius has literally said in early rwby vids we/the fndm didn't do that, we did it together on various platforms, theorising, pointing things/details out, reminding each other of other details ect, none of us did it "ourselves" unless they literally didn't engage with the fandom at all during its run for example I binged rwby up to v4 c2 in one night, anything I did or didn't come up with/realise was on me but after that I got involved with the fandom and none of the pieces I've "put together" has been me "putting the pieces together" on my own, I've technically been "led" by others exactly as mortius is carefully doing with Casper, mortius is acting as the Reddit threads, the FB groups, the discord servers ect that we was all involved in to figure things out

2025-09-25 16:28:54 +0000 UTCVacuo's Headmaster has been revealed in the CFVY books. His name is Theodore, so, Dorothy. Qrow has a good handful of similarities to the Scarecrow, especially the book version. In the book the Scarecrow took over the Emerald City after the Wizard left, like Qrow somewhat stepping up in Ozpin's place until Oscar is trained. Also his drinking can be related to "brainlessness". Even his weapon, a scythe, is originally a farming tool, where a scarecrow would be found.

2025-09-24 21:58:57 +0000 UTCWe finally met Lionheart, so now I can posit my scarecrow theory. I'm very probably not the first one to come up with that. It never made sense to me that Qrow is supposed to be the Scarecrow. The only thing he has in common with scarecrow is a somewhat similar name, but he isn't mindless or dumb or anything. BUT we have literal tin man Ironheart and obvious cowardly lion Lionheart. Doesn't it make way more sense that the headmaster in Vacuo is the scarecrow? And then Qrow and Raven are Huginn and Munnin - Odins massenger ravens, or Phobos and Deimos - Ares twins, who thanks to Sailor Moon are now sometimes associated with ravens... I don't know, it just makes way more sense to me...

2025-09-24 20:32:18 +0000 UTCWith Weiss' glyphs, I always saw black as pull/hold and white as push/repell. That's how Ruby was able to go up the walls and stuff, cuz the push glyphs were helping propel her up the wall.

2025-09-23 03:23:50 +0000 UTCCasper's, "People don't like this volume?? Did they watch it with their eyes closed???" made me laugh, my thoughts exactly!! Some of the digs at it I can understand (like the thing about being in the same house the whole time), but honestly I didn't even notice stuff like that when it first came out. It's one of my favorite volumes honestly.

2025-09-21 22:39:52 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if stuff revealed in RWBY Chibi, as far as character design, is completely canon to the main story, but if it is, then yes, Casper, Blake has a set of human ears along with her cat ears. There's a funny Chibi short where Blake cleans all four of her ears. Her hair is so long it's hard to see, but I'm pretty sure the writers did confirm Blake has two sets of ears, so she could hide from Ruby and the others before they knew she was a Faunus. Something else interesting about the scene in the house where Ozpin first explains his reincarnations - yes, Aaron Dismuke voices most of that scene and imitates Shannon McCormick's voice patterns and such, but there are a few small moments when Shannon's voice comes through more clearly than Aaron's, or they increase the mix in an interesting way - mostly at points where Oz is very vulnerable or emotional: "I'm sorry", after he tells them they've already had so much hardship, then again when he quotes what he told Ruby in volume 1 "I've made more mistakes than any man, woman, and child on this planet." It's a nice hint that even though they are merging, Oz and Oscar are still two separate souls. Also - what must it be like for Oscar in those moments when Oz takes control of his body? Is it like being pushed behind someone? Is it like walking into another room of sorts? Or is Oscar getting this intense feeling of claustrophobia as he's pushed aside? Also, I know there was some interesting debate regarding Ozpin's semblance. Now that we know he is / was an amalgamation of so many different men, the question is: because his soul literally merged with all of them over the thousands of years on Remnant, is Oscar literally a repository of all of those previous lives' Semblances? Because if they fully merged with Oz, and Semblances and Aura are manifestations of the soul - technically the souls aren't gone, even if the body died. Oscar could possibly be able to tap into any number of Semblances given enough training and once their merge is far enough along. Also Mortius - slight correction - we've only seen Ozpin use his bubble shield once at this point, when he was fighting Cinder. That's the only fight he's been in during the show to date. I think the other thing you were thinking of was also in the same fight, but it was the increased speed he used to both avoid / deflect Cinder's fire shards, and also to hit her multiple times in rapid succession with his cane. Both abilities had Oz's distinct green tint to it, so it's easy to get mixed up, which does add to the debate - are both of those Semblances? Is one a Semblance and one magic? Are they both magic? Or is one magic/Semblance and the other is just the result of millennia of training and experience, and being able to channel his aura in a unique way to increase his speed? After all, Pyrrha did tell Jaune in Volume one that "All of our tools and equipment are channels for aura, implying that they can infuse objects with aura, or enhance their physical abilities with aura. Finally - yes, I think it can be assumed that most people in Remnant don't unlock their aura without some training, which would explain Yang kicking the crap out of the bandits. She's had years of proper training, while the bandits rely on speed, numbers, and surprise and count on the fact that the villages they raid are filled with other people who don't have aura and probably don't have much training either. The world of Remnant shorts said everyone on Remnant has aura and a Semblance, but that "it's the ability to control and enhance one's aura that makes one a huntsman" or something to that effect.

2025-09-20 02:17:56 +0000 UTCI have to rebuke you on the point of Ozpin passing on his curse along with him granting the maidens their powers. The only instance in which it is suggested that there could be soul interference with the transfer is the forceful transfer that was attempted with Autumn and and Pyrrha. They never mention anything about such interference during normal transfer of the power up to this point. The general method through which it is passed on could definitely have been inherited from Ozpin, but never is it implied that their souls merge. You teased Neo an entire volume early, lol. I would appreciate Mortius doing a *llittle* less leading because half the fun is putting the pieces together yourself. Occasionally reminding what pieces are there is good, though. I personally don't care for RvB, but it was definitely popular. You'd probably get decent numbers off of it. I laughed way too hard at some of these predictions and the dice rolls were an extra funny touch. Volume 5 isn't bad so much as it is divisive. It has its faults, for sure, and I think it's the weakest of the volumes post V3. I think they did far less with Sienna Kahn than they could or should have. It's definitely boring/infuriating if you, for some weird reason, have no interest in the White Fang storyline. And if you were on either side of the ridiculous shipping war of black sun vs bumblebee it was definitely a tumultuous time. And that one glaring issue in the later half ov the volume that we try not to talk about. But volumes 4 and 5 get a lot more flak than they deserve. The character interactions and individual progressions of team RWBY are phenomenal and some of the fights are really good. Excited to see more!

2025-09-19 23:50:29 +0000 UTCRvB would be interesting! I'd totally watch it, but I would be curious how that would flow. It's been ages since I rewatched but I remember the early seasons being rather... disjointed before the story settled in. The reactions would certainly be fun, but might also be pure chaos. Wait, why am I arguing against this? Bring on the chaos! Also, to parrot something from the comments of another RWBY reaction, Yang's "I love you" as the first words to Ruby are her responding to Ruby's last words to her at the end of Season 3. She didn't say "I love you" back when she was in the thick of her loss, but now she can. Who's cutting onions?!

2025-09-19 12:29:49 +0000 UTCRWBY!!! long video get's long comment. I personally think the shorts are less story relevant and more character relevant: Gives us more insight into Weiss's feelings before leaving home, Blake's feelings towards Ilia, and Yang's feelings towards Ruby, especially that she might have failed Ruby, promising to always be there for her, but failing to go on the journey with her at the end of V3 (even if she obviously had her own issues to work out first) We saw Watt's "W" on leo's desk, but it's actually not our first look at it. Back in V3 when Cinder gains access to Ironwood's scroll and starts hacking the tournament, we can see the signature on her tablet scroll. Surprised Mortius didn't point it out, the Gas Station sign is also "Just Rite" This is for the Bmblby shippers, the cymbal crash causes RWB to scatter into their primary color rose petals (red, white, black) but Yang's rose petals are black and yellow scattering in opposite directions. "Never underestimate the usefulness of others" is such a wild thing for Salem to say to someone who is essentially a useful pawn in her and Ozpin's game of chess. The running joke in the fandom is that "like minded soul" just means anyone with a vaguely Oz sounding name so he can keep his allusion. The time discrepancy also means that most likely Ghira's speech DID occur before the assassination plot, even though we're presented it as an earlier event. My favorite outfit change currently is probably Yang, I really like her travel gear over her school gear. Mortius said that Yang puts the arm on and that's sort of the getting over it point of Yang's recovery arc, but I think the arm shake is evidence of her still recovering from the trauma, she's still traumatized, but moving forward despite it, not moving forward without it. Nora's line about superpowers has always amused me, what do you mean they have the concept of superpowers in the WoR where semblances explain away the idea of superpowers? it's not super, it's just normal semblance shenanigans Her training kicked in during training one day, "imagine a big weapon (or punch) coming in and your just like fwip" we saw Ruby seemingly unconscious after using her semblance to escape Yang's attack in the V5 trailer, and we know it drains her to use it: I headcannon she unlocked it during Yang's V5 trailer. Another sign of Ruby's Semblance evolving seen in the V4 trailer is she split into 3rds to go around one of the Grimm, which is Def not a "speed" thing. Real ravens actually do bond with other birds and are even capable of finding human's they're familiar with, making her Semblance just as bird like as Qrows. Another fun aspect of the "You kidnapped her" line is: no Yang, Weiss was clearly an honored guest, that's why she was in the locked cage. The embodiment of a word caused a lot of people to start embodying a lot of things in the show, including Volumes, V1 I think was innocence or naivety, V2 was Youthfulness, V3 was loss, V4 was Hope, and I'll leave V5 onwards for Casper to figure out.

2025-09-19 10:03:15 +0000 UTCThe synergy of the music in the Lancer fight is an interesting take I hadn't thought about before, but it makes sense. It's one of the rare moments where a song from a previous volume is used, so it wouldn't suprise me if they either used it as temp when producing the scene and decided to keep it, or they always planned on using the song there and constructed the final part of the fight around it. Also important to give props to Alex Abraham for providing that orchestral rendition of This Life is Mine to act as the perfect transition from his brilliant score for the first half of the fight into the song proper.
