2025-08-16 09:33:27 +0000 UTCFun fact. Sun's semblance appears to be Solar Powered. In the fight of V4C3, we can see that he can move around and still have his clones move, while in a later part of the volume, which happens at night, we see that he has to stay still and focus VERY HARD to maintain some clones for a very short time

2025-07-28 00:27:09 +0000 UTCAww, no more "Salutations" intro? I said this over on the Discord, but I really liked the bookend that made with the usual outro - starting with one tragically dead character's catchphrase and ending with another's. Also, the talking-without-moving-his-mouth thing that Cas was doing at the beginning of the second recording is quite impressive and mildly creepy.

2025-07-25 21:33:03 +0000 UTCI sort of agree with your analysis, I do think she has a little bit of a 'school girl crush' on Sun too in Vol 1-3, mostly because someone hot and funny is hitting on her, but she's also been too abused by Adam to think about any other relationships.

2025-07-25 20:46:29 +0000 UTCJust have to mention that too: I absolutely agree with Cas on Rens hair. It looks so stupid! It's like the ultra mullet!!! That fashion was stupid in the 80s and 90s, and I hate that it made a comeback now - it always looked ridiculous. Ren please either get a hair cut or put your back hair into a pony tail!

2025-07-25 16:58:04 +0000 UTCfor me the shipping war between bumblebee and dark sun was kinda mute. During the first 3 volumes I felt that both Yang and Sun had a HUGE crush on Blake, and visually it is confirmed (after the SSSN fight in V3 when Sun winked at Blake, and she blushed) that Blake was at least registering the pointed attention and felt something - being it lovey-feelings or embarressment who knows... For V4 for me at least it still feels like Sun totally having feelings for Blake BUT priorititzing being a good friend and being there for her. If he is there for her and more happens: great. If he is there for her and she still sees him as a great friend: absolutley okay! At least that is the vibe I had from. He is the kind of guy that we wish would be the stand-in for "nice guy", but sadly the internet ruined that..... As for Blake, I don't feel that she really had the headspace to think about her emotions. She was so predetermined with the doings of the white fang, her own doings of the past, the attack on Vail, blaming herself for stuff she had no doings in... and then the last time she let her emotions take the lead was Adam? Nah! She's gonna put emotions on the backburner for now. No time for that. And sure, Sun is pretty much on the nose with his affections and the body had no choice to react to that, but let's not deal with that now. At least that is how I read her. She has so much stuff and regret and self blame going on, that she just compartmentalized all the emotions - that is something for future Blake to worry about! Summary: for me it seemed that both Yang and Sun had a HUGE crush on Blake, but her mind could not deal with romantic stuff at that time - so at this point it's not even a love-V, it's a love-funnel: both of the Sunny Squad send their love towards Blake, and she just like "I'm in the shadows, dudes!"

2025-07-25 16:15:48 +0000 UTCOscar is fascinating, his whole character (and journey) is fucking intriguing!!! And he certainly has the prettiest eyes, I freaking love his green-brown eye colour design!

2025-07-25 15:33:43 +0000 UTCSo excited to be getting more of the RWBY reactions! I find myself counting down to my favorite moments in the show for people to react to (like "Family," with both the Oscar and Ozpin scene and the conversation between Raven and Qrow).

2025-07-25 14:03:04 +0000 UTCYeah he's great at being there/supportive when things are good but, theirs so many issues with Tai, Kali and Ghira best parents!

2025-07-25 11:01:26 +0000 UTCBlake is basically a Princess of the Faunus even though its not referred that way. At least that's how I viewed it.

2025-07-25 10:48:30 +0000 UTCSo one thing that's interesting is the parallels of Sun and Taiyang. Both are there to play support for either Blake or Yang and neither one can truly read between the lines with either one of them. Both Sun and Taiyang are 'Tone Deaf'
Mare
2025-07-25 08:13:50 +0000 UTCAlso....Tai aka "Gaslighting Father of the Year." Yeah, Taiyang isn't the best father. While we learn of his emotional and mental shutdown from Yang in Volume 2 when she explains it to Blake, we realize that Tai has left his kids unsupervised, leaving Yang to basically become Ruby's surrogate mom as pointed out earlier. Tai was never great at reading the room and he also specializes in compartmentalizing...the Xiao Long kids seems to have inherited this awful trait from Tai. Also Yang's line, "I lost a part of me and it's never coming back" has SOOOOOO many layers. It's the most metaphoric line in that episode. And did you notice how Tai projects his own grievances and perspective onto Yang? He's a One-Size-Fits-All kind of guy and we know Yang can't "walk it off" like Tai wants or expects her to.

2025-07-25 08:02:42 +0000 UTCIt's confirmed by CRWBY that Weiss, Blake and Yang were 18 in this Mistral Arc. Blake's confirmed birthday is in January so she is the first of them to turn 18. Volume 4, Ruby is 16.

2025-07-25 08:00:04 +0000 UTCWow...both Casper and other Reactor, Not-Your-Average_Fangirl [Elijah]...., I swear...they're the RWBY-Whisperers. They have more media literacy and nuance than anyone else I've watched.

2025-07-25 07:35:51 +0000 UTCI'm surprised Mortius didn't talk about the paintings in the schnee manor more. The Family portrait clearly shows all the women in the household being utterly miserable, while the only clear family photos in Jacque's room are of himself and Whitley

2025-07-25 06:32:09 +0000 UTCSo a thing with Yang and Taiyang's relationship - that scene about the braincells/arm is actually still debated. Because it holds long enough that the audience can see the reaction from Oobleck and Port. That it's not immediately a funny haha. Especially because Yang only starts laughing AFTER Oobleck drops the glass. Which fits with someone going "Oh no, someone else is here, need to keep up appearances" The thing with Taiyang is that this isn't the audiences' first brush with his parenting - it's just the first time we've seen him on screen at the same time. Because the first because heard was Yang going off in the woods with Ruby in the wagon. And different groups will see it as reflecting on a six year old being six and nearly getting herself and get sister killed. Others see it as a damning indicator of Taiyang in the immediate aftermath of Summer's death.

2025-07-25 04:14:07 +0000 UTCVery apt conversation about Ren's hair, since the concept art literally says "almost butt length" XD

2025-07-25 04:11:01 +0000 UTCIt was definitely wild, and full of bad faith takes on both sides, the shipping wars was the first time I left the subreddit. One of my 'favorite' harmless debates was if BMBLB was about the ship or the motorcycle.

2025-07-25 01:08:29 +0000 UTCWriting as I’m watching, sorry for the wall of text: Episode 2: I hate Jacques, he needs to go away. But, what’s fascinating is, he’s also 100% right in his analysis of the political situation in Remnant – how much better would things be if Ironwood didn’t create a Dust embargo? He’s lucky he didn’t start the war he’s trying to avoid as people need fuel and ammo to protect themselves from the Grimm. Klein’s last name is Sieben, so it translates to “Little Seven”, which is super fun and on the nose. I love the way RWBY handles mental health and PTSD in volume 4 and onwards. It’s really one of the strengths of the show IMO. Ruby and Juane certainly are pinnacles of good mental health, right? . . . right? lol Episode 3: One thing I think is important to remember with Taiyang is that he basically abused Yang through parentification – his ‘shutdown’ after loses Summer is implied to have gone on long enough that Yang raised Ruby alone (up to her attending Signal possibly), so filter his interpretation of the family through the fact that he was as present in their life as Raven was. You can see here, he doesn’t get Yang’s personality here with how excited he is for her new arm and not getting that she’s just not mentally ready for it and can’t even read her body language. Great depiction of PTSD though. And Taiyang not knowing how to be a parent so he just . . . walks away from his kid having a panic attack. I love the subtle world building – of course passenger transportation has weaponry to fight Grimm on it. The reason I didn’t like Black Sun at this point, Sun doesn’t get boundaries (I think Black Sun is a teenage crush on someone hot but doesn’t truly understand the other for who they are). He’s right, Blake needs help at this point. But, stalking her at her most paranoid and everything is not really the way to do it. In her place I’d totally be slapping Sun too, he really earned it. And you see at the end he really doesn’t understand what drives Blake by being completely 100% wrong with what he thinks she’s doing. It’s so fun watching Salem scenes knowing what we know now. Ruby being chipper, because her semblance isn’t revolving around her running away from her problems or anything lmao Episode 4: Time for more sad Yang hours! Why is her arm there? I think it’s Taiyang subtly pressuring her to put it on, but it’s really up to interpretation, I’m just very cynical about his character. I love how he protests Yang hearing about him hooking up with multiple people, when I’m sure Qrow already told them most of it already (and it's not like they don't know he hooked up both Raven and Summer, so like . . . what is he objecting to?). Tai spends most of the convo infantilizing Yang, and then he insults her. Based on her face, I don’t think Yang thinks his “joke” is a good thing, but then she remembers she’s in public and tamps down on her reaction. I honestly don’t think they have a good enough relationship for this, Yang is just faking it for the teachers. Tai ends up pressuring her more by implying he’d be helping Ruby if he wasn’t here helping her. Downplaying her PTSD as moping when he shutdown for like 7 years when Summer disappeared is also unimpressive. Ghira is the best father figure in RWBY, period end of subject. And I think if he and Kali heard about the way the other parental figures acted they would go to war lol. Qrow is second best father figure in RWBY imo, and he doesn’t want to be one. Love him scoffing at luck though. The whole convo with Raven is great though, I love Raven as an antagonist. She is so complicated and in such a fun way. Yang with her arm! I feel like this is quick, but I also feel like Tai did push/guilt her into it a little. Hot Take: Volume 4 is better than Volumes 1-3, the writing and characters are just sooooooo much better, telling a good story is more than just fun fights! Episode 5: The reveal of Blake’s parent’s house is always hilarious. And I love how welcoming her parents are even though it’s been years since they talked. And Blake’s ears just drooping! Awwwwww.

2025-07-25 00:24:13 +0000 UTCAlso, you got me reminiscing about the bad old days of shipping wars. At least we RWBY fans can all agree that the music is amazing. After all, last time I listened to "Not Fall in Love with You," the Bumblebee shippers loved it so much that they threw bricks through my windows to hear it better.
