2025-03-07 06:35:24 +0000 UTCI’ve been tier listing for myself along with y’all, and I was (mildly) amused to find my slot for NSFLY landing almost precisely between your individual choices. I recognize the good points that Casper brings up, and I can turn my brain off while listening to it, but it really is very off-putting if I pay too much attention. It’s interesting to go back to the choices I made after the last saga dropped and to reconsider their locations (I used erasable pen for songs that y’all hadn’t ranked yet). I’m not internally ranking them until I have them all down on paper, but in the meantime it’s just interesting to compare your opinions and mine. I often find Cas’ musical analysis shifting my choices slightly!

2025-03-01 05:42:51 +0000 UTCOh man. So. I do love act 2. For me, just going off of Saga's, For Thunder Saga my favorite song was Definitely Thunder Bringer and my least favorite was Different Beast. For Wisdom Saga fave is Legendary, least fave is Love in Paradise. And for Vengeance my top song was Get in the Water. (Gosh I cannot wait to do animatic for it.) And my least favorite was Not Sorry for Loving You. It is good AS a song, but definitely personal stuff made me not like it and not like Odysseus' response in particular. Hot Take, I liked 600 strike BEFORE I saw the official animatics for it. I had an image in my head that made it work for me and I think the actual stabbing portion is underrated in a lot of places. Vocal performances are great, and the fact that some of Poseidon's screams do herald back to some motifs from when Ody was suffering really works. But also, in that moment, my brain did something and I was reading it as Ody being a villain, and Poseidon a victim? But that might just be because in EPIC vs the Odyssey, In EPIC Poseidon is WAY more justified in his obsession. Like....if someone did to Telemachus what Ody did to Polyphemus, you BET Ody would chase them across the earth to get some payback. Welp that's my rant. Can't wait to see your ranking for Ithaca!

On the other hand, I’m in agreement with Mortius regarding “Calypso.” No doubt our personal experiences color our responses. The animatics make “Get in the Water” so much better for me - how you guys can separate its musicality from every fantastic visual artist’s work amazes me. Seriously, let Mason have more cameos. Since this is Patreon, we’re getting several YouTube segments at once. All of the Act 2 tier listing in this video is giving me whiplash - I’m profoundly grateful that I don’t have to attempt this.

Thunder Bringer always makes me so upset, because we'll never have an interaction OR song between Eury and Polites. That is so sad. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Armando and his deep tones. He and the crew tied so much together, and they were So human in the way they handled each hardship. It is completely and utterly valid that Not Sorry for Loving You causes so much discomfort to certain people that you/they/we can't enjoy the song as much as we'd like. Odysseus expressed that he wanted to leave and was told that he was not going back to his family, or anywhere, for seven years. His situation Hurts and is infuriating. Jorge loved making this song and that shines through. His and Wangui's vocal performances cry out and make me hurt for both of them, but this beautiful song still makes me angry.
