Honestly the 600 strike, despite being a great song, is my only gripe with Epic. I’m sorry but….nah. Even if Odysseus did succeed in beating up Poseidon, one of the three strongest gods, why wouldn’t Poseidon just, I don’t know, lie and then drown Ithaca anyways? I think in the original myth doesn’t Zeus just call him off? (I can’t remember it’s been a long time) but literally in Epic there is no reason why, after the last song of the show, Poseidon won’t just destroy the island anyways and take vengeance for his son.

2025-02-09 10:34:11 +0000 UTC[[ realized I put this on the wrong vid. lol ]] So, the thing about the raft in my brain for story wise this: 1) Odysseus had already been trying to get off the island a few years after getting there. He needed to recover so he obviously didn't try the first year or two he was there. But then he spent about a year building the raft, trying to keep it secret from Calypso since he didn't want to piss her off. After it was built, he tried to escape several times over the next couple of years (years 4 and 5) but then he realized he really couldn't. So, then the "All I hear are screams" bit in "Love in Paradise" is where he is getting super mentally exhausted because he has now believed he will never leave. In some ways with "Not Sorry for loving you" bit where Calypso talked about abusing him, he kind of just let her kiss his neck but never let her go farther than that. (I think this one would be a bit similar to the actual Odyssey, but I haven't read it in a while so don't quote me) 2) I also had thought that maybe during "Not sorry for Loving you" Odysseus is building the raft at some point during that song like maybe after the "I love you.... but not in the way you want me too". He would then walk away from her, and he would start building it. Then Calypso would just be watching him from the window of her room or something and then just watch him leave. Those are just how my brain took it with the raft being there.
