2024-11-16 02:00:40 +0000 UTCIf you're enjoying the beta songs you should really check out, Schuyler Defeated (Original Version) - Hamilton Animatic @wenibon on youtube, Cabinet Battle 3, and though it wasn't an actual beta song, there was a song Lin was considering a song about Benjamin Franklin, in the style of the band The Decemberists. So The Decemberists went ahead and wrote one. It might burn Morbius' ears to ash though. LOL

2024-09-27 18:40:31 +0000 UTCRegarding Lin’s connection to the Hamilton fandom: he was much more connected to it when the show premiered on Broadway and became such an insane sensation. There was so much more of him connecting with fans on Twitter and Instagram and whatnot, but my sense watching from a bit on the outside at the time, is that it got a bit toxic on both sides. Fans started behaving like they were entitled to Lin’s attention (he had to stop doing stage door appearances because the crowds were too big and unsafe if he was seen entering or leaving the theater), he decided to get on a Tumblr soap box about gif makers “profiting” (??) off of a bootleg recording by making gifs from it and got laughed off the site. After that, he seemed to get a bit more reserved and set more boundaries on his parasocial relationship with the fandom (which I think was the right call). It was kind of similar for a lot of the cast - people got actually MAD as they left their roles to do other things, even though that’s a completely normal and routine thing for Broadway. I remember Renee Elise Goldsberry putting out a video explaining the normalcy of actor replacements on Broadway when she announced she was leaving the cast, to try to diffuse fan disappointment. It got intense on all sides, basically.
