2024-09-10 13:26:44 +0000 UTCOk I recently joined just to see this wonderful stream and share my thought especially on We'll Be Fine and Athena. I know we all LOVE Athena. but this is a redemption arc for her. This is her redemption song. "But she didn't do much wrong." You might say. I would disagree. A lot of Odysseus's actions were him being what Athena made him into. Even with the cyclops. He was still being a warrior of the mind. (Planning to poison the Cyclops). Its not until after Polites dies that he acts with open arms. (To which we agree with those actions, but ya know, betrayal). And his actions in Thunder Saga is him reverting to what Athena trained him to be. A warrior of the mind, not leading with his heart. And in this song she says how she's familiar with " Those who impose their will.". Literally what she did to Ody. Trying to force him to be her warrior even if that's not what he wanted and at the moment, not caring about the pain he's went through. ("You've grown soft. Your dead friends can attest."). But over the past 19 ish years shes finally begun to feel the pain he went through and she ignored. Feeling regret for not seeing this earlier. This idea of her trying to redeem herself makes this all so much more powerful to me... also it makes an interesting parallel between the two. Odysseus, being hardened and becoming more of the warrior she wanted him to be and becoming alone like he accused her of being. Then Athena, becoming the friend he wanted her to be. And growing soft, finding her own Polites to listen to in Telemachus. This concludes my Ted Talk. Hope at least someone else enjoys it haha!
