I didn't know about Lauren but yeah I knew Ray Park was involved and you can tell right off the jump with Maul's first "hop-step" move... Looked and felt like it was straight from the Phantom Menace scene.

2024-09-08 01:12:30 +0000 UTCThis fight was actually done by stunt actors and choreographers with motion capture, including Ray Park, the original Darth Maul actor, and Lauren Mary Kim who also physically played the Armorer from The Mandalorian

They simply ret-conned some things and crafted this narrative to fit within the existing storyline but that only makes it even more impressive that it fits so well in the overall context of the films. I mean in that regard the entire existence of Ahsoka was ret-conned into the story too... and look how well it works? Not only that but she gives Anakin's character immensely more depth and makes his tragic fall to the Dark Side even that much more tragic.

The music, the setting, the fight choreography, and the dialog and context of what Maul is saying. I know it's animation and they can do more insane things during the fight than live action but even in that context I still think this is the best lightsaber fight ever!
