The Acolyte 1x2 - Reaction

Comments

Hahahaha this is the best reaction ever guys cause the rest of the show is still trash, yall are gonna like the fight scenes but the story is just trash but I'll let you guys judge it for yourself

Salazar79Z28

Well…

Jesse S

yall need to get to episode 5 asap cuz it changed the game. this finally is going to be great

GodKingSosa

I reserve the right to return and say this show stinks lol

Josh Anderson

I am enjoying the show, though I wish Yoda was in it, it is interesting for me because I am looking to see how this series connects the Bane Sith lineage and connects to the grand sith plan that culminated in the Clone Wars.

Jaylight

The thing about it being 100 years before the Phantom Menance was from leaks before it came out. But then at the beginning of the first episode, it said 100 years before the rise of the empire, which would be the Revenge of the Sith. So that leak was inaccurate.

Jaylight

Thank you for roasting this joint! I heard all of the rumors and waited to see what people had to say about it before I went back and tried watching. I couldn't even finish the second episode. 😂 Then, I've seen clips of episode 3...YEESH!! Talk about lore destruction. Please watch episode 3 for our amusement, then go watch Star Wars Theory's skit where Anakin talks about the twins to Palpatine. 😂 I know everyone has different opinions about the guy himself, but his skit is comedy gold!

SilverSeraph000

Hi Jaylight, thank you for your reply. I decided to look up the information to make sure I am in the right place. I found out the following information. "The Acolyte is set 100 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. It takes place during the end of the High Republic Era, when the Jedi Order was at its peak and actively involved in galactic affairs. " But all in all, it is still before the prequels, so we are both in the right place! I hope you are enjoying the show. For me it's a little slow starting-aside from the fight sequences. But, it took me three tries to get into the Mandalorian. I think it will pick up its momentum. I heard on an entertainment channel that no one in the main cast had to audition for their roles, they were all hand-picked. Wow! I wouldn't know how to behave if a job like that was handed to me. Have a great week.

Ana Greer

That's cool, still a bad plot device and execution. I wasn't following it that close and glad I didn't.

Terry Jackson

Joe said "is she a jedi", no she is an acolyte. Look up an acolyte. In the old republic before the rule of 2 an acolyte was a sith ranking like a jedi padawan. Given the rule of 2 I thought she would be the only acolyte. But based on the dialouge with the guy who sold her the poison, calling him "the master", obviously that guy on the rocks, it seems he has other acolytes, which means given the rule of 2 in this era, they cannot be considered as actual sith, and their master is probably the Sith apprentice. Sith apprentice to perhaps Darth Tenebrous before Tenebrous replaced him with Darth Venamous and before Darth Tenebrous replaced Darth Veneamous with Darth Plaugis who became the master of Palpatine.

Jaylight

I alreary knew about the twins before, those details were out beforehand.

Jaylight

Isnt it 100 years before the Revenge of the Sith, not the Phantom Menance. It said 100 years before the rise of the empire, so thats 87 years before the Phantom Menance.

Jaylight

man so can black ppl not have dreads in star wars now??

Blue

No one said there aren’t gripes n problems with the show and no one’s looking to be stuck in a chamber filled with all the same thought and the high republic isn’t established any but in books that’s none of us read lol hence why they’re baby stepping through some of the writing no one’s saying give the show a reward but it’s been two episodes bro if you hate a show and it sucks and is uninspired after two episodes your looking for problems, you don’t even know the main plot yet and you hate the show lol get out ya feelings and allow the show to progress if it sucks it sucks but declaring right away makes no sense to me

Josh Anderson

I agree, I’m honestly shocked they weren’t feeling it considering some of the shows that they have enjoyed lol but to each their own. Hope they give it a chance tho. Also, as a Korean myself that’s funny af and didn’t even think about that til now 🤣

Mitch Coob

Yeah I wasn't just bored, but I actually felt antsy. Like anxious to turn it off. I'm not a big fan of any of their live action Star Wars shows so far. but still they've all had enough good humor, interesting storylines and action to keep me entertained. I always thought that was a prerequisite. This one just has decent action and nothing else.

Jyn Jilly

I agree and I had a big comment about what's coming up in the next episode but I'm taking it down. Even though I don't like this show I still don't want to ruin it for anyone else. But just saying... Oh boy here we go.

Wayleran

For real, they’re totally asking the wrong questions or are hung up on minor stuff that’s immediately resolved like Osha sticking around the crime scene, cliched nonetheless. I don’t mind the roasting because I’ve been supporting them for the humor they bring to reactions. The Acolyte is far from perfect imo (characters are thin so far, not convinced Amandla has range beyond YA fiction acting) but I appreciate that it’s not nostalgia bait like Kenobi or goofy like that Lizzo episode. Mini roast: How they name the Korean guy “Master Seoul”? That’s like naming a black Jedi Master Baltimore.

jroc

Also I didn't even realize that until they brought it up, why did he turn his lightsaber on at the end of ep 1? lmao Next time he shows up and starts monologuing I want him trip and fall off the rock lol "And by my hand, the jedi will f--- oh shit! Fuck!..." Face plants haha

Jyn Jilly

Sometimes a the acting, dialogue, humor can fall so flat for someone that whatever cool plot developments happen in future episodes don't matter. That's how I feel These are the two episodes that should make people intrigued to continue and yet there was not a single interesting character, line of dialogue, great performance to get invested in, for me. And I don't think I'm alone in that. Also her hair looks awful. What were they thinking. Like she got pulled from a low budget sci-fi themed music video from the early 2000s. You know when genre movies back in the day had tie-in music videos where the dancers wear generic default sci-fi punk clothes? That's what she looks like lol It does not fit Star Wars to me. Everyone else looks fine.

Jyn Jilly

This turned into a roasting session lmao not mad at it

Youngsensei

Yea a familiar face that we know and that makes sense within the time frame

David

oh, also, the scene where the one jedi was floating reminded me of when Grogu on the Mandalorian was meditating and nothing could break through to harm him.

Ana Greer

For real, I miss them clones.

Paul V.

Hey guys, yeah, it is a bit of a slow start. I also was left a little confused by the ending of the first episode. I am willing to give it a chance too and take this ride with you. I think the show will get its momentum soon. I have watched other reactions to it and it is a mixed bag. Some people are really excited, others not so much. I am willing to see where it goes. It is 100 years before Phantom Menace, so I wonder if we will see Palpatine's master. Who knows. I here with you.

Ana Greer

Seems like yall have been missing cues and context to the story which is why it probably doesn’t make as much sense lol everything yall have questions about has been answered or alluded to

Mitch Coob

See I am suspecting the guy on the rocks to be Darth Tenebrous, thats Palpatines master's master or maybe connected to him some how

Jaylight

This series has been refreshing imo. Love the murder mystery angle and am enjoying seeing an entirely new cast of characters. They can’t all be winners to everybody tho.

Mitch Coob

I wish Yoda was in the show

Jaylight

This is while the Sith were in hiding for almost 1000 years, from the Darth Bane lineage, plotting their comeback

Jaylight

Yeah this show fell flat unfortunately. Once they said the twin thing I checked out lol.

Terry Jackson

it’s not as bad, but i dislike it more than those two

doesn’t matter

show is almost as bad as Kenobi and Boba Fett for me

doesn’t matter

They just told you what it's "about" lol They just said what they don't like about it

Jyn Jilly

You keep asking "why does this guy hate the jedi?"... I guess I just assumed he was a sith, who are sworn enemies of the jedi? Is that not the case?

Matthew Pryor

I’m enjoying it, but if you’ll not feeling it, then you’ll not feeling it. You’ll gave it a fair shot. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Mel8235

To even insinuate they were affected in any way by, as you call it, the "mainstream it's not that good effect" then man you need to back up and realize you're actually doing quite the opposite and not listening to any honest opinion that contradicts your own. I'd say if anything they really tried hard to be open-minded and look for any scrap of quality yet in their and many of our opinions, the show is just bad. Poor writing that's feels more like it's a 14 yr old's first attempt at edgy fan fiction than an actual professional TV production. Acting that's so stilted and uninspired it feels like no one really wanted to be there OR did any work on developing their own characters. And the one "good thing" people say is that it's a cool setting in the High Republic era, well that's true but has nothing to do inherently with this show. The High Republic is a very well established and interesting time period to delve into for storytelling but this show does not do it any justice. And after the next two episodes we'll see if many people are still defending it as much.

Wayleran

I think it's about how you view Star Wars as a whole. This show is definitely not as sophisticated as Andor, but it feels like the novels and comics. As an anti-Jedi, the story particularly interests me as we are getting a first hand account of how the Jedi acts in self-interest. We have another Jedi that left the fold, an obvious cover up of a major incident, and the potential rise of Darth Plagueis. It's an interesting snapshot into the dark side of the Old Republic.

Lady TE

Sorry to hear you guys aren’t fans of it, I personally am enjoying it but hopefully it picks up a bit from here. I think it has potential to be really good, but we’ll see. We haven’t seen much of the show outside of the first 4 episodes so I think there’s more to come that they’re hiding. On another note, are you guys planning on closing out clone wars soon? I heard MDogg say he had an update for clone wars, hopefully you guys are still on board for that, you’re right at the finish line and it’s very rewarding. Thanks for all you guys do!

Spencer Allen

Letting the outside influence opinions is my biggest issue with reaction channels. It wasn't like this years ago, but over time as social media has become bigger and more echo chamber-oriented, i've noticed this slow change over the years. I'm finding myself feeling obligated to watch reactions instead of actually enjoying them like I used to. To be fair, I do think these guys do better with blocking out noise than most.

PhillyJ

I love y’all reaction fellas but I’m really not understanding yall disdain for the show it’s episode. 2 there’s gunna be curiosity and confusion for us as viewers since we don’t know how the story will unravel, we don’t know what happens between Osha, Mae and the Jedi but I assume eventually we’ll get flashbacks or someone will tell the story I also agree that they better had did something pretty serious for brotha man to go silent for 10 years then off him self willingly, yall reactions be dope but I think yall let the mainstream “it’s not that good” effect yall early on and it’s seems like it stuck wit yall Mae was obviously trained by the masked sith/ force user and I don’t get being upset because you “thought they connected” I though that as well but we were wrong hopefully it’s explained but the biggest gripe I have is sol not further questioning the supplier on who the “he” is

Josh Anderson

let's get back to clone wars

Greg Freeman

this roast is epic. I can't wait for this to hit youtube too. hahaha. y'all tried to hold back and then you just couldn't lol

Greg Freeman

I'm loving it. It feels fresh to me due to the new time period. Sucks you guys don't like it. no worries though.

PhillyJ

also the four jedi that are targets are the four jedi that were there on the twin's home planet when the fire started.

Spoonacus

Man, it always sucks when someone, who's content you love, doesn't like something you do. I appreciate you giving it a fair shake tho.
