The Acolyte 1x1 - Reaction

I like how you guys call the weirdness as it is lol

Shows getting a lot of hate but I like it. A lot of good, some mid but nothing making me mad or breaking canon as of yet. I think the unknown master, the twin and the few Jedi we’ve been introduced to, are interesting and I like them. I jus wish that jedi that died was cut down with her own saber to kinda solidify the death and made the twin seem more cut throat

It wouldn’t be the first time someone lied to someone about their loved ones’s whereabouts (ie: Palpaltine..). I’ll give this show a chance and judge it on its whole season. I think the true mystery is, what happened to the sisters, and who is Mae reporting to and why.

Them two not liking this banger of a show wasnt on my 2024 bingo list. I really dont understand the hate, fights, sets and plot are greats or interesting at least.

First episode of Andor while some say it’s “slow” it’s still incredibly engaging, dramatic and looks beautifully shot. This acolyte episode is just decent so far it doesn’t have grandiose feeling that Andor has. But we gotta give it time to develop.

Respectfully, this show ain’t Star Wars.

I think this is a great setup episode. Keep in mind, at this point the Sith are supposedly gone. The question is who is the guy with the red lightsaber? And how did a Sith slip under the noses of the Jedi at the height of their power? Additionally, I like how it explored the twin communication and I'm hoping to see more of that. The psychic link thing was one of the only things I liked about Episode 8 of the Skywalker Saga.

The cave scene gives me such Anakin-Ahsoka vibes.

To me, it feels a little paint-by-numbers so far. Clichéd. We've seen these tropes countless times, and while they can be useful and effective if the storytelling is deploying them in imaginative or unexpected ways – turning them on their head, or deliberately breaking from audience expectations – playing them straight is a risk that isn't yet paying off. For me, anyway; mileages vary, and that's okay. And unless something truly egregious happens, I'll wait until I've seen the whole season before passing any final judgment, and I'm genuinely hoping it'll turn into something incredible. The masterpiece quality of Andor presents a near-impossibly high bar for any Star Wars media that follows (including its own second season), but this show can (hopefully) still prove strong on its own merits. Fingers crossed. :-)

Also unrelated but we might be getting a Vox Machina S3 trailer tomorrow.

I think the show has potential. The first episode was great in my opinion and I can't wait to see where it goes from here. You mentioned how it wasn't on the level of Andor but you have to remember that Andor was a slow-burn show. Not much happened in the first episode of Andor. Only a quarter of the episodes for this are out, it would be unfair to judge based on that.
