2024-03-26 02:45:08 +0000 UTCWell they're already far into book 3 and plus, they probably don't read my comments. Additionally, I'm not telling them what to think. It's just a pretty obvious observation on Zuko that I think is really interesting to talk about. Also, it'd be pretty weird if they went into book 3 genuinely thinking Zuko was playing a game or something like that. Plus the lighting thing had to be highlighted. Not many people catch how crazy that was. Basically the equivalent of Aang getting shot in the back with a gun. 😅

Thae creative team showing Zuko regress cause it's something that happens when people undergo a paradigm shift and are moving towards change - they keep amazing me with threading in things like that...in an kid's show.

2024-03-24 13:08:06 +0000 UTCSome context in terms of the timeline between the airdates of Seasons 2 and 3: This episode aired in December 2006 The first half of Season 3 aired from Sept 2007 - Nov 2007 The second half of Season 3 aired in July 2008 Idk about anyone here that watched it while it aired but for me the hardest wait was for Part 2 of Season 3. That cliffhanger at the end of Part 1 was crazy for me back then.

2024-03-24 03:52:24 +0000 UTCYou think zuko's smart enough to play the long game?? He ain't azula, unfortunately, that's too much faith in my boy. Aw man... avatar version of empire strikes back

2024-03-24 03:35:51 +0000 UTCSo yeah, Zuko wasn't playing a game. No, he didn't want to betray Iroh. But what he still wants deep down more than anything.... is for his dad to love and accept him. Think of him like an addict, and his honor is the drug. He got a detox, got clean and was happy for a while, but then Azula shows back up and holds the drug in front of him. She offers it to him on a silver platter. You can have your honor, his father's love, everything he's wanted for the past few years. He still clearly feels guilty about what he did. But yes, he still did it. It's not really throwing it away. It's a backslip. A big one. Literally like an addict having a relapse. It's not who he truly is, but its just one of his greatest flaws. Also, Azula literally killed Aang there. Like that lightning bolt murdered him. The Avatar Cycle almost ended there. If Katara used that spirit water on Zuko there..... it would be all over.
