So by now we know that Anakin and Grevious didn't see each other face to face until ROTS, so I love seeing the creative ways the writers come up with for them not to meet. I really enjoyed this episode. Just like ARC Troopers I felt like they packed a lot into one episode. I almost wish this had been an arc compared to some of the other episodes in season 4. I love the fact that the Gungans took down Grevious. Here's an army that most people don't think anything of (maybe, except for Palpatine, because it's his home planet so he should be familiar with them, and he did want the Gungan's army help) capturing one of the slipperiest generals. We seen in actual history smaller powers taking down super power countries, so it wasn't something that was unbelievable. I love that we get to see the progression of Anakin vs. Dooku so it's just not him beating him in ROTS. This fight left Dooku breathing a bit hard. He wasn't expecting it take so long to take Anakin down.

Also side note, it always makes me laugh when Drew says Anakin should use Force Lightning, or that he would, when the type of Lightning he's thinking about is primarily a Dark Side ability ๐ (Yes there is Light Side Force Lightning, I know, but this style from Dooku and Palpatine certainly isn't) they really would join the Dark Side so fast in this world haha ๐ But then again fair, I think a lot of us would fall if we were Force Sensitive with our worlds tribulations.

2023-10-04 08:38:48 +0000 UTCIt sure does. I agree about the prequels and I've come to appreciate them much more over the years in large part due to watching Clone Wars and Rebels multiple times. I always tell people who only know of "Star Wars" in the context of the feature films (sequels excluded for obvious reasons๐) that the collection of animated series have done FAR more to expand the Star Wars universe than any other form of media in my opinion. The original trilogy of course ignited our interest in the universe far, far away and the prequels laid out the groundwork to tell an even more immersive story BUT I think that's the issue with the prequels for a lot of people, myself included for many years, they were more of an "outline" than an actual cinematic experience. What they lacked in drama and style they made up for in depth and rich world-building. That's why for my money the animated series are THE BEST way to dig deep into the lore of Star Wars. ๐๐

2023-10-04 08:27:57 +0000 UTCThat's why I have come to really appreciate the prequels. Of course Palpatine had an emaculate plan and his ability to conceal himself assisted him greatly. But really, what helped him the most was just how far the Jedi had strayed from their own values. Not just of course fighting in a war, but like you said, they have become straight up arrogant, so sure they're on the right path, becoming soldiers of the Republic, more than the Keepers of peace they claim they are. They stopped using the Force for knowledge and defense, and used it for pure offensive means. The Jedi in several ways brought upon their own doom, by failing those who truly needed guidance (Anakin being the prime example) but damn, it makes for a good story. ๐

2023-10-04 01:03:37 +0000 UTCPalpatine's "Long Game" is incredible. Not to mention how his powers are so great he's able to disguise his Dark Side from all those Master Jedi in the Temple so near to him everyday. Dooku was right, the Republic WAS corrupt at it's core AND the Jedi Order were blinded by their arrogance, complacency and dogma. Dooku was just misguided and corrupted by the Dark Side or else he'd really be the hero of the story.

2023-10-03 17:35:47 +0000 UTCI love that here we get a little hint from Dooku to Anakin about how the Sith control everything, and Anakin just probably brushed it off. But man, it's insane how Palpatine manipulated events so deeply, that he essentially won even before the war began. It's so sick seeing little hints and signs here and there even during the Clone Wars, before Palpatine makes his big play for seizing the Republic.
