Cosmonaut Marcus makes a really good point about the character of Charles Xavier, one that's depicted PERFECTLY in this episode -- in the same way Iron Man's "real power" isn't the suit, but rather his ingenuity -- or how Spiderman's "real power" isn't spider powers, but indominable will -- Charles' "real power" is, rather than telepathy, his unparalleled ability to relate to his fellow mutants. granted, these aliens he's with aren't mutants -- but the overall idea should be that he's the "ultimate diplomat", which is shown perfectly here

How the Shi'iar were talking about "educating" and making other cultures assimilate after destroying them. Its echoes later on when Forge talks about the white lie that the Europeans told his people they could make them "better". I really love this show

The OG show explains a lot of the questions you have lol

2026-02-27 17:44:00 +0000 UTCAs someone who didn't watch the original cartoon, this was the one episode where I really felt like I was missing important backstory with Professor X specifically. Basically in the final episode of the original 90's series, Professor X gets crippled by Henry Gyrich, who was the guy we saw Jean interrogating in the first episode. Empress Lilandra came and had a cure for him, but he had to go with her to the Shi'ar empire. All of that was happening while Magneto was like, mid-preparation for taking over the world with a mutant army, and he stopped out of respect for Xavier. So basically the last shot of the original show was them all standing outside the mansion watching Xavier leave. But yeah, this episode is so good. Especially after the just avalanche of heartbreak in the previous one, it's so good to have some hope. Storm getting her powers back feels so triumphant, they did such a good job.
