2026-02-23 23:12:19 +0000 UTCThe locket Laeryn picked up was from Evandrin, who was Zerxes husband. During Zerxes dream, the allusion was to Evandrin being no longer with us. The rest it seems like you’re spot on Just as some context for whats going on - we are seeing that the cast members do not have equal information. There are secrets shared between 2 or more members that the rest are unaware of. At the end there, Sam says he has no secrets and Brennan blatantly calls him out, saying he KNOWS thats not true. This isnt how alot of DnD games in real life go. Usually the players will discuss with the DM some backstory stuff and make sure it fits the setting. Some players give the DM more or less leeway to fill in backstory details. By and large, though, the DM provides everyone the same context for the game theyre all joining In order for there to be this much “inbalance” in information (like a plot to use energy in a side experiment), there needs to be lots of trust among players and with the DM that it will all work out in service of the story they’re telling together. Depending on the relationship between players, this may take some managing I only bring this up to highlight the amazing chemistry and buy-in from the cast. Travis sure is surprised but hes loving the intrigue. Everyonr is having fun with the tension. This is how dnd can be magical, and its what critical role does so well

2026-02-23 22:40:27 +0000 UTCYou've got a good handle on things so far. Laerryn's work, as we see here, is to turn Avalir into an interplanar city. To be able to travel to other "dimensions" essentially rather than "just" fly all over Exandria. When she's saying "it was worth it," I take that to mean she's referring to the failure of her marriage to Loquatius. It was implied last episode that their marriage fell apart largely because she was so consumed by her work and basically just never gave him the time of day. Laerryn proves here that the device she's created to travel between planes, the Astral Leywright, works. However, doing something as small as sending a tiny object to another plane caused this Arboreal Calix machine to siphon off a ton of energy, and she doesn't understand why that's happened. Meanwhile on the other side of town, we've got all kinds of hints about some really bad shit about to go down, the emissary of the god of death is freaked out and unsure, all the oracles in the hall of prophecy suddenly became "exhausted" and they had to shut down the hall, etc. etc. etc. Surely these things are not in any way related and everything will be totally fine.
