EXANDRIA UNLIMITED: CALAMITY - EP 1 PT 8

Comments

That last moment with Cerrit may be the most amazing moment in all of D&D, I freaking love that entire scene. From the high investigation roll to the reveal that he's not alone, to the description of invisibility, to Travis opting to sneak attack the person and then the reveal of the mutilated face and body of the person to Brennan literally jumpscaring Travis through the mirror. It's just perfection, so much hype, suspense, dread and anxiety all in just a few minutes.

So glad you are digging this. Yes, much cliffhanger, all the cliffhangers. One ep down and it is so much fun to watch these with you. I suppose if it gets defined in some way, "the Wild Mother's embrace" could mean making contact with the goddess of nature, like when Avalir touches down on Cathmoira. Touch down is scheduled for dawn. So maybe one could say Vespin's threat means "You won't live to see the next dawn." As far as threats go, that one is kinda gangster.

Quick Q - I have no idea how your side of Patreon or YouTube works, but are you able to stream the episodes outside of YT? FreeTube is free and opensource, with no ads. I'm sure there are other ad-free options, but that is what I use. (Edit: this is just b/c you seemed annoyed at the ads popping up while you were watching, feel free to disregard)

Not a spoiler, because everyone at the table, longtime fans, and people in the world of Exandria will know this: The Wildmother is the Goddess of Nature. Her domain is every thing that grows and walks on the earth and swims in the sea.

Glad you’re enjoying your first watch of a TTRPG live play, this is about as good as it gets. Brennan paints a terrifying picture when he wants. As for what Purvin was describing - in Exandria, there are two kinds of gods: Prime Dieties (“good” gods) and Betrayers. Why are there two kinds and why are they locked away? I’ll drop the link to Matt’s video explaining it in the Patreon chat, it’s just ten minutes, no need to react if you don’t wanna edit it. The video just explains the background on the gods and their place in the world. https://youtu.be/DYBM3myR914?si=Wvzm6S5E6sKjOQkH A lot going on at the end. Above the table: Travis rolled damage initially using a digital dice roller on his iPad which is handy for doing math quickly, but as you can see from the reaction at the table… nothing beats the tactile sensation of rolling real dice and seeing what you get, that’s why they demanded he roll physically. Here, he rolled 25 after initially getting 24 on the iPad so it worked out even better. In game, Brenna described two things in sequence. As Cerrit brought the disanimated scarecrow thing into a side room to investigate, he noticed with his Rogue abilities the two nearly imperceptible eyes on an invisible cultist with the stitched skin. With his super fast slice with his tomahawks, he killed that invisible dude that was try a sneak up from behind. Then separately, Cerrit looks up and sees the image Vespin in a mirror taunting him and smashing the mirror from the other side.

Read the description of this video in Grogs voice for sure 😂
