I am often asked if I shoot cosplay, and the answer is invariably "no". The reason being that I prefer to capture the character and personality of the model, or create my/our own character (that being said, there are a couple of models I would shoot cosplay with as a favour, but only if their cosplay was either spot on perfect).
This set features a character called "Sandra" that Jordan and I created. Jordan is an actor, and brings something very special to a shoot. She had asked if we could do a shoot with her hair in curlers, but beyond that we didn't really have a plan. I didn't even know what she had planned for the outfit. But once we started shooting the character (and therefore the images and story) jus evolved. I would suddenly get a flash of inspiration and shoot upstairs to grab a prop from our spare room, and this happened over and over throughout the shoot... including a vintage Valentine typewriter by Ettore Sottsass that I had been dying to use in a shoot for ages. But you will have to wait until Part 2 to see that, and find out more about the Sandra character that we created together.
