"Red" nude photoset

A photoset from a shoot I did a while back with the fabulous Emma. These were shot using a continuous light with octabox. When I shoot this way I tend to put on a mood playlist and ask the model to get into the music and move to it. I then just fire away with my camera. We are therefore both moving a fair amount, as I move in close, or further away, change my angles, sometimes even climbing onto a stool.

It does tend to produce some really awful shots - out of focus, poorly composed, etc - but with the right model I also find it can produce images that I probably would not have captured with a more formal way of posing. There can be more emotion or intensity if their look, and even compositions that I probably wouldn't have captured deliberately. But it has to be with the right model - actors and dancers seem to be more comfortable with it - as I have found some models to really struggle with this method of shooting. And if they do, we just go back to the more formal style of posing, shoot, pose, shoot...

If I can one lovely shot in every five then I am very happy!

We are trying to get something organised, it's just sorting out the logistics as she lives quite some way from me

Emma is just stunning! Please work with her again if you can!

The setting I used for this set were f/5; 1/400s; ISO 500. As long as the model stays roughly on the same spot then any slight differences in exposure can be sorted out in post. The movement of the model tends to be mostly upper body or turning on the spot, and I tend to be moving a lot more than the model, but the only thing I have to be aware of is not moving into a position that blocks the light. I have my light stand on a wheeled dolly, so can move that with one hand if I need to.

Great set and interesting way of shooting, so constant light, no flash, so what sort of camera settings, or are you having to adjust these also while everyone is moving?
