The idea of "these people aren't people, they're x" is something people often tell themselves to make their darker desires more palatable and less compromising to their morals, in a morbid sort of way that kind dehumanization is glued to our sense of morality and justice where we want "Goodness" rewarded and "Evil" punished, in that we can justify otherwise evil acts with "our enemies are that much worse" or "our enemies are lesser than us and thus we should feel no guilt". Mahito, a being literally comprised of mankind's mutual malevolence, understands this better than anyone else and can naturally use it to manipulate some insecure teenager with a bully problem.
