Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ Episode 1 (2) Early Access

Double the Zeta, double the fun?

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ Episode 1 (2) Early Access

Some comedy scenes were not for me, but after getting serious, it was really good. Judo's good protagonist after Z. I watched 1st ep again this time. That's actually better than I thought.

The thing is Tomino has always made both seious tragic shows and goofy comedic ones - he made plenty of the latter before ZZ, like Daitarn, Xabungle, and L-Gaim. I haven't watched those yet, but I have watched his much more recent comedy Overman King Gainer and it's *incredible*. Turn A Gundam, which is one of his finest shows, also has a lot of goofy elements which are really well tied together with the show. So weird humor may be new to Gundam, but it's not new for Tomino, and it's not unique to this installment of Gundam. Personally, I had a much more ambivalent opinion about Zeta when I first watched it - its story is grandiose and its themes are very powerful, but its high ambition makes its flaws sting harder; it's the kind of work that feels like it *could* be perfect if it wasn't filled with imperfection. (Rewatching along with your reaction has made me appreciate the tremendous experience of Zeta more, with its flaws and all.) So ZZ felt like a huge palate cleanser to me, and I just binged through the show and had a blast; the goofy adventurous spirit feels really refreshing after Zeta's dreary, depressive, emotionally overwhelming tone. Zeta is difficult but powerful, while ZZ is easy and enjoyable, and I'm glad Gundam - and anime - have space for both of those. Anime ja nai!

Y'know what? Fuck it, I stopped after Zeta years ago but meaning to watch ZZ since I became a big Tomino fan. I'll watch along!

Ditto! I'm personally very pleasantly surprised, from all I've seen online so far, mainly on various anime foras. it seems sometimes, from what small exposure I've had, that ZZ is just not popular at all (personally I love it more or less as much as Zeta, and I think I'm gonna like rewatching them one right after the other as I'm gonna do rn.)

Oh, yay, I thought you'd react after Macross! Had no idea you'd do both at once. Great! I'm gonna rewatch ZZ on my discs, and then watch reactions. Yay, (re)watching ZZ with Tee. (Well, for me it's a rewatch. And I love ZZ as much as Zeta, and sometimes even slightly more. Which is, I've seen online at least, rare, so I can't wait to see how Tee reacts. I've heard it's not for everyone, apparently, this series, so I'm gonna be bothered of course if - anyway, gonna watch sometime today or tomorrow, and probably edit my pointless comment later. tldr it's gonna be fun for me either way, and hopefully not just for me.) Btw, I still feel like I'm a very new fan of Gundams, but it's been seven years now, if we're counting from when I watched my first one, so maybe I'm just a fairly new (not two years even, I think, though I'll check) fan of uc gundams. Heh EDIT because I've forgot to edit after watching: I'm so happy he's enjoyed the ep! I've enjoyed the first ep very much from the beginning, despite the fact that at first I had had a bit of a negative reaction to Judau, back then. (also, offtopic for now, but probably nobody would guess who's my fav in ZZ, and now one of my favs in all anime besides, in top 10 XD prolly nobody'd guess because I wouldn't've guessed, a few years ago, never.)

Yes!! The saga continues! Both was definitely the best choice, but I'm surprised that it happened.
