Yooo new patron here, had to jump on and see your finale perspective. I love how the clock tower moment is built on two specific call backs to season 1 and 2, since you mentioned it has been a while since you've seen the earlier seasons, I thought I'd mention it since I think they really elevate this finale. One is more surface level, the "you mean read Shirogane's thoughts and search for him game" that Kaguya says in the hallway is built on Shirogane saying the the same in the season 1 finale, thematically both being moments when each character is "lost" far away, with their connection and tenacity of the other pulling them back (princess kaguya story?). But more important to the crux of the core romance arc is the "once in a lifetime request from me to you", here being Shirogane's request for Kaguya to come to the US, not only mirroring Kaguya's request for pres to stay pres for one more year (2x3), but due to the 2nd letter of recommendation granted for his 2nd year as president, being literally only possible because of it. To me that's the meat of the whole story, since as Kaguya's whole 2x3 monologue stated, the request is enabled by her being "selfish", throwing away her pride. That act is what enables Shirogane to do the same, which in the end is what enables them to have a future together.

I don't wanna give away what the movie covers, but I am very interested in your thoughts on it. And btw the movie isn't necessarily the end of the anime, apparently the end of season 3 is about halfway through the manga, so with the movie it's just over half. There hasn't been confirmation of a season 4 but it seems fairly likely.

2023-07-05 05:30:07 +0000 UTCSince we're nearing the end of watchable Kaguya I thought I'd throw in my recommendation for what comes next since you seem to really like the writing of Kaguya maybe try out Oshi No Ko which was also written by Aka Akasaka just finished its season 1 recently with a lot of praise.
