Watch Mugen Train as a
Added 2023-03-17 22:50:21 +0000 UTCMovie will flow better, obviously... but films frequently just leave me speechless and exhausted.
Episodes will produce far more room for discussion and pacing it myself... but will interrupt the initial flow of the film.
Various commenters have commented both ways. Let's see what the masses think.

2023-03-19 10:55:53 +0000 UTCI watched the arc in both formats, and I think the TV format is fine to have more time during the viewing to unpack all of the content. However as others have mentioned I would recommend skipping the opening, at least until you've watched all of the episodes, the opening is very high spoilers and leaves little to the imagination. Still a banger, but a spoiler.

2023-03-19 09:06:09 +0000 UTCI think watching the TV show is a fine replacement aslong as you skip the op and group certain episodes together. Problem is I doubt there will be any consensus on which episodes to watch together.

2023-03-19 02:16:39 +0000 UTCI've watched both and enjoyed both. I like the built in breaks for discussion episodes would bring, i think it would be generative. Either way, I'm glad you at least checked out the first episode, as most people missed it just watching the movie, and it really is an excellent character set up and even adds an interesting bit of context for the story of the movie. You should also check out the OP at some point (though maybe near the end), just bc it's another thing people missed and i think it's pretty great.

2023-03-18 21:56:08 +0000 UTCRead the manga and when they announced the movie i thought "That's the perfect way to adapt this arc". Movie did not disappoint in that regard. Didn't watch the show version.

2023-03-18 14:54:45 +0000 UTCThe clímax of the movie is very emotional and the series just breaks the rythm and the experience for me And not only that but at the end of the episodes it gives you a break to process the situation of the characters and when the next episode starts you already understand the situation before the episode begins So, even if you skip the opening you will get spoiled just by watching the episodes wich is a shitty experience (My English is shit but I hope u can understand)

2023-03-18 01:27:18 +0000 UTCEhh, on one hand better discussions seem nice but having to sit through the beginning of this arc in episodes format would be kind of a drag, especially since the recaps make it even worse. Honestly the only time I would choose the TV ver is if you knock out like first 2 eps in one go, otherwise the movie it is.

2023-03-18 01:25:20 +0000 UTCTo be a good voter I felt obliged to give a quick rewatch to the TV version to be able to decide correctly, and it would be a lie to say that this version does not damage the rhythm of certain scenes in the separation between chapters, but it is not like it ruins the movie, however there are two aspects of the TV version that I think that greatly damage the experience, but both are fixable, the first one would be the OP which for some reason thinks that you already saw the movie xD, so you would have to skip it, and the other one, which for me is very serious, is the break of the climax due to the division of chapters, so I would strongly recommend to watch the last two episodes together. Even though I think the TV version is an inferior experience to the movie, I prefer you to watch the episodic version, mainly because I'm not only interested in your simple reaction but also in what you can analyze and dissect of the phenomenal work that UFOTABLE has put in this IP, and as you say, watching the movie would probably not allow you to appreciate as you would like the whole work. (sorry for the wall of text and if there are any strange words, I'm still learning english :S).

2023-03-18 01:20:19 +0000 UTCIt really depends. For consumption/appreciation of art, I say movie. For dissection/analysis of artistry, I say episodes. You're sorta in a pickle here as a content creator who would ideally get to do both to their fullest capacity.

2023-03-18 00:49:30 +0000 UTCI watched the movie and the series and yeah the movie flows better because the episodes cut off at times when its not always the best for the flow. But I voted for the series because we would get more indepth discussion for parts that would probably be skimmed over when discussing the entire movie as a whole. Ultimately I dont care which way you go. Both are excellent.
