A Sign Of Zeta

BEYOND THE HARD TIMES FROM NOW

A Sign Of Zeta

Comments

I get that you're loath to do your work with the mindset of "means to an end", the end being money, making a living, and to no small extent survival. But the truth of the matter is that this is, in fact, your source of income and you gots ta eat. "Source of income," "work," "job," "profession," "for/making a living," and other words/phrases like those: do these hold different connotations and evoke different emotional responses for you? If so, how so, and does acknowledging those distinctions help with some of the cognitive dissonance? (sorry, didn't mean to turn this into a worksheet-short-response question or some kind of therapy question >.<)

I'll admit that I was one of those people you're talking about. I admire your work, especially this "behind-the-scenes stuff". There was a multi-month period where I didn't see any updates (late last year into early this year), but the part that motivated me to un-sub (as you can see I'm back) was lack of information on what was going on. I checked Discord, the Patreon posts, and I think I checked Twitter too but I didn't see anything. I like these talks because its both an update and an insight into your life & what's going on. It's just getting that information out to people looking for it. I thought this was an anime video, had no idea if Zeta was an anime or not, but decided "what the hell" I'll click on it. Turns out it was one of the deep talks I like. My advice would be to somehow label them, such as "A Sign of Zeta (Teeaboo Thoughts)" - especially if it's the prologue of an anime reaction. I haven't watched certain series, but I would if I knew an episode contained an extended talk like this. I recently found out you had a 2nd YouTube for talks, so that might have already solved some of the things I mentioned. I noticed around the 2nd to last episode of 86 you started looking for meaning in literally everything on screen. Your 86 analysis was on point, and that's why the change stood out a lot (at least to me). It's a bit hard to explain, but it felt like something changed. Nothing's wrong with that, just wanted to mention it given the topic of today's talk. Regardless I feel like I understand why that happened a bit better after listening to this. Either way, you being able to discuss and reflect on yourself like this makes you better than the majority of other reactors out there.

Finished the video and your right, it did answer my question and it's good to hear. It's good to see you back to what you enjoy and enjoying doing it.

I think you'll find that this video answers your question.

I'm writing this while the video is still playing, it'll basically be an essay and I likely won't have time to finish the video tonight but there are a few things I think I really want to say about this and how everythings been going. I started watching you because you liked shows I liked and introduced me to other shows I've really liked, you also speak about and treat them in a number of ways I enjoy. I enjoy the one sided dialogue of you going over what you liked or didn't and thinking about the shows as more than just a piece of entertainment to be watched as a time fill but something worth engaging with. When I say one sided dialogue I mean that I don't comment often or use the discord often and enjoy your reactions in a similar way to documentaries or video essays. You have said tons of times how you starting this was a way to escape a shitty work life and do something you found fulfilling and other people could appreciate. I understand how and why this past month has been an anomaly, difficult and lacking and it's totally fair though like you mentioned about zeta it declined a in some ways before this month. I care about you enjoying what your doing and I care about reactions and discussions from you. So I have to ask what are you doing? I don't mean this in a accusatory way just as a legitimate question, these talk videos that have become the norm get further away from what I'm reasonably assuming most of us are here for and the amount of what you have repeatedly said is what you wanted to do has decreased and it's been going on for much longer than the past month. Are you still enjoying how you were doing things/are doing things? Before I ramble anymore I just want to ask are we going to be seeing what you always said you wanted to do and what we started watching and supporting you for, being enjoying and discussing media or has that changed? I'm going to keep supporting you for as long as you do this because I still think you deserve it and I still enjoy what you wanted to do with this channel and I want to see more of it as much as I want you to enjoy doing it. Don't look at this as an attack or criticism just voicing concern and encouragement for you to do what made this whole deal work both financially and personally. Be well man and I hope you do what you enjoy and makes you happy.
