So I posted a comment on youtube but noticed that it wasn't visible when I switched to another account. My guess is that maybe it was flagged because I used the phrase "slave/sex trafficking"? Regardless, I'll just copy paste what I wrote here:
One subtle thing this episode does is add layers of complexity to Sauros, only to force the viewer to confront their feelings about him at the end of the episode. We were first introduced to him as an abrasive yet loveable grandfather to Eris. This image is somewhat tainted by the fact that Sauros is caught having sex with one of his maids, along with the general fetishization of beastfolk shown by the Boreas Greyrat nobles. Adding on to this, this episode heavily implies that the family's maids are the result of the brutal slave trade we've seen in that last couple episodes (i.e. "nobles with weird tastes" buy them up, and Rudy's subsequent "It couldn't be..." reaction). This casts the aforementioned sex scene in a much darker light, and effectively means that the loveable Sauros has done something much worse than anything the oh-so-hated Rudy has done. But then, the scene with Eris after the battle once again reminds us of who Sauros is to her, a loving grandpa and the family member she's most excited to see again. And then the final gut punch. Sauros is shown as the victim of political machinations, taking the blame for something out of his control, and thinking of his granddaughter in his final moments.
So is Sauros a morally corrupt man engaged in slave/sex trafficking? Or is he the loving grandfather to Eris, the one worthy of sympathy as he's wrongly executed? I would say yes and yes. This highlights the fact that so many characters in this show (including our MC) can't neatly fit into the "good" or "bad" person boxes. And I think it's a testament to Mago no Te's writing that a seemingly insignificant character like Sauros can be given depth in just a few short scenes.

I don't think geese was doing nothing in this. Not sure, but I think that powder he trew was gun powder, which is why the magic explosion was so big.
