This was super well done for all the reasons you outlined, but... it didn't blow my mind. Like at all. As you said you've got no experience with the TTGL, I had quite a bit in the late 90s and early 00s, so I already knew how everything works. A lot of the cool action and horrible Corp shit was expected, and probably only shocks someone who has no experience with the original TTRPG. I haven't played the console game (shit was famously broken and I don't think it's fixed), but it would probably do well in preparing viewers for Night City and its denizens. What I wonder is how much CDPR stands to make off this, as well as the original creator. You can find stories and interviews with the guy, but I think he should be more well-known. D&D was basically inspired by Lord of the Rings, but Cyberpunk [I feel] actively stood with its influences to in turn inspire some of our classics today (GitS, The Matrix).
