Why would anyone ever tell that to their parents? The best case scenario is that they don't hate you and try to kick you out, the worst is they try to kill you as a demon or something. I'm sorry, but Paul's rape of Lilia is a little bit worse than Rudy not telling his parents about his reincarnation.

Talon

Paul is a player. He has his view on right and bad and is completly selfcentred. So yeah I would not like to be with him, but he does stand to his mistakes and tries to do the right things so in comparison. And he tries to make himself better in his limited ways. Whereas Rudy seems to be completly resistent to reflect on his behaviour an uses the excuse "I am also a scumbag". Also Rudy is lying this whole time, not telling that he is a reincarnation (there is magic so it should not be so unbelivable)

Pretty normal for one kid crying to set off another. It was a nice little touch though :-)

Also something that is expanded on in the novels, Lillia intended to use their "shared past" to pressure Paul into giving her the job (he was actively searching for a maid), though she never needed to do it since Paul and Zenith accepted her with open arms and even paid her more than she expected. "Spoilers" well not really, it's from vol.1 just expanding upon what was already adapted: Lillia was in a pretty bad spot at the time when she tried to get that job. Lilia used to be a royal handmaiden for the Asura Palace harem. In addition to her usual duties as a lady-in-waiting, the role also called for her to act as a guardswoman. It's also where she met people that were so disgusting and scummy that to her it actually put into perspective her experience with Paul and how much worse it could have been. In line of duty protecting a newborn princess she was injured on her leg and poisoned, while the injury was healed to the point that it wouldn't interfere with everyday life, she couldn't run or fight anymore so she was no longer able to perform her duties and lost her job. After more than a month of travel and searching for a job she happened upon a posting that said A low-ranking knight in Buena Village was looking for a housekeeper and the name that singed it caught her eye (it was Paul).

"Who am I to say a man's strength is for protecting the weak?" I think you have your answer now. We already knew that Paul could be unsavory. Now we know he was a straight up scumbag. I had an interesting thought with this episode. As scummy as Rudy himself can be (for a variety of reasons: NEET, 2chan, degenerate, trauma), we know that he's a 40-year-old sex pest in a kid's body. But what might he have been otherwise? Rudy is obviously problematic, but in the context of this world, he's merely a deviant (at least at this stage). If he didn't have the presence of mind to understand that Paul is a scumbag, it's easy to think that he'd be much more influenced by his father than he is. As it stands, Rudy's 40-year-old mind recognizes and can separate Paul's good and bad qualities while remaining unaffected by his influence, as a normal child never could. I don't find it surprising that Lillia ended up working for Paul in the context of this world. Despite (or because of) their shared past, he was a devil she knew, and perhaps they were somehow able to reconcile. He's a knight put in charge of that village by the kingdom, which gives him and his family status and money there. To the point that when Rudy rescued Sylphie from the bullies, they said "It's the knight's kid" despite never having met him.

About the "raise her to be the ideal women" thing. To my own surprise I took way less issue with it than I should have, even in my first watch through. If this came up in episode 1, I would have been way more disgusted, but by now the show has established the rules for character interactions clearly. They are not to be regarded as NPCs, but as their own entities with agency. Rudy is much less in controll and definetly not as smooth as he thinks. "Raise" her into anything she doesn't want to be? Good luck trying that Rudy. In the "real" world, people have as much influence on you as you have on them. You are not Ayanokoji, Rudy.

I can't wait for the next episode, I love Episode 5

Talon

Awesome commentary as always

one thing that was subtle and that you didn't notice was that at 9:12 when norn starts crying. While none is crying on instinct Aisha looks at none and starts crying because she is copying her. I thought it was pretty interesting. almost like showing the difference between zenith and Liliya. Lilya is more logical and zenith is more emotional.
