the poetic comment on human and nature balance is in how kaya making the choice to sacrifice is her exercising her humanity - both freedom and wisdom. it's not a coincidence that early in the episode she is portrayed as animalistic, feral. if she were to just continue as she were, without any interference, she would have been consumed and ended up exactly as she did in the end, but it wouldn't have been by her own choice. but having experienced life as a human, as a part of the family, having had an input from ginko, she now has the understanding of the law of nature, the memory of love for her family (i think the baby brother is there to help her understand how her own big brother feels about her) and wants to protect them amd their balance with nature. she accepts the course of nature willingly and brings in a part of humanity into it.
