I'd like to give a shoutout to the podcast, Mobile Suit Breakdown, anyone who likes Gundam and academic-ish takes on anime should really check it out. It is basically a big Gundam fan and a newbie going through the series and doing lots of research on its influences. I have learned so much about the show from it but also about all sorts of fascinating niche topics from the state of psychology in 1980s Japan to the failed Young Officer's Coup in Pre-War Japan. The creators also post some choice memes on Twitter.
