October Update #2

Hello Everyone,

Here is what has been added in the newest update.

First of all, Unity announced that their engine contains security vulnerability and to fix that, we had to update Unity to the newer version. It messed up some code in our game, and we had to spend 2 days fixing it, but it had to be done.

New features and new scenes:

1) We adjusted the day planner events so that most of them are noew available in more time slots. For example, if combat training was available only in the late afternoons, it is now available in the late afternoons, evenings, and all day on weekends. It should make scheduling events you want much easier. In the future, we also want to make the nighttime slot available, but we want to first prepare a special type of event for that time slot.

2) We added work events for Week 3. Almost all of them have multiple variants depending on what you did in Week 2 and your stats.

3) Added the animation for the scene with Violet at the swimming pool. And moved several other animations to the new animation system.

This week, we’ll release another update that will add the first scene between Alex and Nova. Maybe it’ll also include a scene with Kayden and Alex, but no promises. In the worst-case scenario, it’ll be added next week.

Here is a roadmap for the next 2 months:

Now that we have added the majority of the main plot events until Tuesday, Week 3, we have only 5 days left before we finish Act 1. We’ll focus on key events until the game is playable from the beginning to the end of Act 1. After that, we’ll add optional events with all characters.

In the coming weeks, expect mostly scenes with the members of Nova’s group – Nova, Kayden, and Rebecca. After that, we’ll go back to scenes with love interests.

You might’ve also noticed that recently added scenes don’t have too many expressions in them. It’s because in late November, we’ll be reworking how expressions work in our game. This rework will make it much easier for us to create new expressions, improve sprite appearance, and speed up scripting scenes. Until we do that, we don’t want to put too much effort into scripting sprites in the scenes. But once we finish working on the new system, we’ll make characters in all existing scenes more expressive.
