James & Meowth
Added 2019-03-16 03:47:54 +0000 UTCI wanted to draw a few Team Rocket things after working my way through season 1 of Pokemon Sun & Moon. Here's just some James and Meowth. I was thinking a little about one of the later episodes which mostly featured Team Rocket having been separated for a bit (Jessie with Mimikyu and James with Meowth). I did enjoy the episode and liked the story with Jessie and Mimikyu, but was a bit disappointed there wasn't much of a B story for James and Meowth. They mostly just ran to the mall without incident to look for Jessie, it would've been nice to see them bro'ing out and having a little adventure together. Maybe something will happen with them in season 2?
I wanted to try to draw Meowth a little closer to his Sun & Moon design while still keeping him a bit stylized. For James I did a bit of a mix between Sun & Moon and my usual style for him. If you're wondering why I usually color his hair on the bluer side, it's because in the original anime his hair color was sometimes inconsistent between blue-ish and purple-ish. I've always had a natural attraction to blue hair, which is part of why I took a liking to James initially. But in his later days his hair was more consistently purple, but I still like to make it more on the blue side. ;)
