$5+ Patron News

Good morning, $5+ patrons! This is just a general news post to keep y'all informed of everything going on over here. 

First: Chunky Skunk might be a little delayed this week. As some of you who follow my side blogs may have seen I hurt my neck somehow this week. I was able to get some drawings and doodles done over the past couple days, but of course these aren't as involved as inking and coloring a full comic page. Fortunately it feels better today than it did yesterday, but it's not back to 100% yet. So I'm going to start working on the page and see how it goes. I'm hoping I'll still have it finished tonight or tomorrow, but we'll see. Thanks for hangin' in there! 

Second: There won't be a new Chunky Skunk page next week. The page I'm working on this week is the final page of Episode 4, as such I'll be working on the title page, script and page layouts for Episode 5 next week. The script is mostly finished but I do need to sit down and fill in a few gaps in the story which will hopefully not take too long. This episode is a little more low-key than previous episodes, I hope everyone still enjoys it! The last part of Episode 4 will start going up publicly soon.

Third: I've been working on/practicing digital sketching. If you've followed me for a while, you may have noted that I've primarily done all of my sketching traditionally with pencil and inked over my drawings digitally. Digital sketching has been something I've wanted to learn for a while, but had a hard time getting the hang of. I'm proud to announce that I've been able to digitally sketch everything I drew last week, so I think it's going pretty well! I even digitally sketched the next Chunky Skunk page which you can see here:

It's pretty sloppy but I think with time I'll get better at it. I literally have piles and drawers bursting at the seams with pencilled comic pages and sketches and I just don't have the room to continue drawing traditionally every week. (If you'd like some of my old sketches, just let me know. I'll mail ya some.)

Below is an example of some digital sketching I did this week along with the finished result.

The above sketch actually started out as just Karamatsu carrying Ichimatsu before I decided to draw the other brothers, so the advantages of sketching digitally are pretty great. ;) I'm looking forward to practicing with it some more.

Fourth: Replacing the monthly sketch dump reward with something else? For all of it's benefits, digital sketching has left me with a bit of a conundrum with what to do with the monthly sketch dump reward. I won't have much in the way of sharable sketches at the end of each month so I'm looking to replace the sketch dump reward with something else, I just don't know what! Is there something y'all would like to see every month? A standalone art piece? Something else? Please let me know, I'd love your feedback on this. Thanks!
