Being a creepy predator is Hisokas character. Asking if he NEEDED to be that way is kind of strange. Like asking if Naruto needed to be the nine tailed fox or Goku being a battle crazy psycho. its a critical character trait. It doesn't ruin his character because it IS his character.

2022-01-16 15:52:06 +0000 UTCDespite his apparent status as an anti-hero/villain at times, hisoka could easily fit into the role of a mentor to Gon up to this point in the series and honestly he's a bang up one. He'll roll up like "I want you to get stronger, here is your next goal, figure it out" and everything that hisoka pushes Gon towards really helps him out in the long run
