2022-01-13 00:22:49 +0000 UTCHonestly I love these episodes. I think it really ramps up how intense it all is. Do they need to do full scenes? Probably not but I think having 1 full episode to show Narutos thoughts and how his mind is racing really sets the pace. He had so much information shoved at him with his meeting with the Raikage, then Madara explaining all of Itachis past, then Sakura shows up and that whole emotional thing, and THEN Gaara shows up to say Sasuke crashed the summit and he's wanted internationally now. It was a lot for him to digest and it resulted in a panic attack. Seeing him resting while his mind is still moving at 10 miles a minute I think was powerful.

However, they are really just to show the struggles that naruto and Sakura are having in their head with trying to accept or understand sasuke for who he has become while also trying to hold on to the memories of who he once was. Also the flashbacks are really repetitive when watching shippuden immediately after finishing OG naruto but when the show originally came out people hadn't seen these scenes in literal years so it's a little more understandable when considering that. This is the worst of flashbacks imo. There aren't many other episodes of 99% flashbacks and 1% new content

2022-01-12 19:30:50 +0000 UTCThe manga didn't have these flashbacks. This is why I prefer more fillers rather than padding, it really ruins the flow. BUT, seeing some of these flashbacks was cool. It kinda makes me wish that Sasuke didn't go rogue as early as he did. Well, they didn't have to stretch it to this extend though. I wouldn't have felt bad if you would have skipped this episode tbh.
