He was about to hurl it at Naruto at Orochimaru's lair, but Orochimaru stopped him. Maybe it was simpler lighting style jutsu, but between same hand pose and Orochimaru's warning not to do it, I think Sasuke was seriously considering torching Naruto...

Remember when he started to weave signs for some jutsu and he started literally glowing before Orochimaru stopped him and told him to let Naruto and others live. I still can't believe that he was about to drop a freakin KIRIN on Naruto and Sakura lol... P.S: The OST in the beginning - The Scene of Disaster is a masterpiece.

And on your opening question: There is no way that I'm interested in the Madara fight, while we have Itachi vs Sasuke going on :D I mean Madara is a interesting character, but we have been waiting forever for the confrontation between these brothers.
