When you stop and think about it, Naruto is really dark. So many war orphans. From ninja wars, to tailed beasts attacts, to missions. Anbu is a fodder, red shirt equivalents...

2021-09-22 13:59:58 +0000 UTCIn the manga, Shikamaru starts smoking immediately after Asuma dies, which is why he says "The smoke always gets to my eyes" line. The cigarette was omitted because Shikamaru is still underage. Still as impactful in the anime though, I always cry. RIP Asuma
