Just some info re: seasons 4/5. There was some behind the scenes drama. Dan Harmon, the original creator and showrunner was fired before S4. Apparently, due to his drinking and on-set behaviour. S4 received mixed reviews and Harmon was rehired for S5. In the show, they refer to S4 as the gas leak year. Chevy Chase was fired before S5 due to his behaviour with cast/crew. He was a little too close to Pierce! This is also why you see him less and less in S3/S4. Apparently, he just wasn't on set so they had to film without him. So, likely due to the above, even though the ratings were more or less the same, NBC decided to put Community on the back burner, hence the fewer episodes in seasons 4 and 5. Community got cancelled after S5 but due to fan demand, #sixseasonsandamovie, got picked up for a S6 by Yahoo! (Yes, that Yahoo!) There supposedly is a movie in the works with most (?) of the cast returning.
