as a Swede who has been part of many of these, the movie is 100% true to how we celebrate Midsommar. The bear is hard to get these days tho, but we manage.

Nothing says "I want you" like a uterine blood cocktail! π I liked your analysis, but I think it's simplistic to merely call it a cult. A cult is usually run by & benefits a charismatic leader, who dictates the behavior of his followers. If there was a leader here, I'd say it's Mother Earth. They are animists, & they see that death & rebirth are parts of the natural cycle in nature, so they incorporate it into their lives. Everything seems to be geared towards cohesion of the community & awareness of the needs of the individual. Then along comes Dani, grieving from the loss of her whole family & in a stagnant relationship with an uninterested mate. She's an empty vessel looking for a way out of the pain & emptiness. Too bad about the meaningless human sacrifices, though. And when I see Christian stuck inside the bear, I imagine he's thinking, "There goes my damn thesis". π€

2025-01-26 01:05:48 +0000 UTCIt's was dancing , they kept kind of doing the same thing over and over again. Talking in a language we couldn't understand . I just didn't get what the movie was about . Her acting was good . I was lost . I think the atmosphere of the movie was just slower pace becuase they were in the country. But what was your favorite part of the movie ?
