2025-01-23 08:09:58 +0000 UTCI absolutely LOVED your reaction to this episode. I agree with absolutely everything you said here. It makes me exceedingly happy that you understand Dean's motivations and emotions behind what he said about Jack. Unfortunately, many people don't get it, and hate on Dean because of it. But like you, I understand what he's saying and agree with your take on it completely. I think he was just SO desperate to end Chuck, to be truly free. Free will and eschewing destiny has been at the forefront of everything Dean's believed in, as a grown man, especially. So he's in such a messed up position, trying so hard to figure out what part of his decisions are Chuck and what is authentically him. So ending Chuck became like an obsession. Which I completely understand. I think he does love Jack, and he does see him as family deep down. But he also knew what Jack had to do if they wanted Chuck gone, so he had to push those feelings aside, remind himself that while he may care very much for Jack, he isn't the same as Sam or Cas, and he had to be okay with losing him if he wanted Chuck dead and out of their lives. I was very happy that he said what he did to Jack in the car though. Jack deserves all the gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifice he's willing to make. So, I'm very glad Dean acknowledged that and got to thank him. I do see where Sam was coming from too, and I get what he was worried about after finding out Billy's plan. I was very glad he could talk Dean down. That speech he gives him breaks my heart every time - all the tears! And I agree with Sharon. Jensen and Jared give amazing performances there, very nuanced and genuine. So, here's my thought process about what we see with Chuck in this episode. It took me a few rewatches to really come to my conclusion. Also, I may be wrong. Lol! I think Chuck was manipulating Billy, using her power grab, and her obsession with things being orderly and everyone being in their "right place" to force Jack into the position he ended up in. But of course I don't think he ever planned on actually dying. I don't think he believed Jack could actually kill him. I think he just wanted exactly what (almost) happened. He wanted to use Jack's sacrifice to drive a wedge between Dean and Sam and push Dean into killing his brother to get rid of him (Chuck). I'm not sure if he planned on Amara being there. I don't think he can really always see or control what's happening with her. (Notice he didn't write in the attraction and connection between her and Dean.) But then, maybe he did plan on her being there because in the end, he certainly used it to his advantage, manipulating her pain at Dean's lie to convince her to let her guard down and "find balance" with him, which of course is never going to happen. He basically just took her over and is now even more powerful. So, anyway, judging by his anger when he busted through the bunker door, he planned for pretty much everything except the Winchesters (once again) refusing to follow his plans. Again, he proves he doesn't really understand them, because he assumed Dean's rage and tunnel vision would cut through everything else, and he'd take out Sam just to get to Chuck. But he doesn't know our boys like we do. ❤️💔 I have more that I want to say, but I keep erasing things, because I don't want to risk any possible hints of spoilers. So, I'll just leave things here. I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't believe there are only three episodes left. I have my tissues ready! ❤️ Oh! And the rewatch of 5x04 was so good! Such an amazing episode! Two Deans is always gonna be a win for me! Endverse Dean (as he's known) is so broken and hard and sad, but also...🔥🥵...so hot!! 😁

2025-01-22 22:33:29 +0000 UTCOk the tears came out at the end for me there! Jensen and Jared gave the performance of their life time during that end scene. The emotion in it was just fantastic. Dean's voice sounded so desperate and lost and not just angry, which a lot of other actors doing that scene would sound like. This season is a mind f*ck with the whole Chuck thing. The realisation of 'is this is plan? Or are we going against it?' screws with your brain. Rob Benedict gave a great performance as well. I'm not ready for the last 3 eps... I might. need to grab tissues. It's been 19 years of my life this show (I literally started the show 19 years ago today!), and watching it again with you 4 and a bit years after it ended is bringing all the emotions I felt when I first watched it. I think we were both on similar thought processes watching this season - other reactors have had different thoughts, which is great, but watching it again is bringing those memories of watching it for the first time again.
