The Marquis de Lafayette is revered in the United States as a major hero of the Revolutional War. He is also revered in France as being one of their most popular and greatest heroes. If you are interested, there is a ton of information available on him. Now on to Lord John. Perserverance Wainright, aka Percy Beauchamp, became Lord John's stepbrother when John's mother married Wainright's stepfather. The two had a torrid romance until Wainright was caught in flagento with another man. Wainright was arrested and imprisoned awaiting trial for sodomy. In that time period, conviction for sodomy with a man was punishable by death (hanging). Lord John planned and executed Percy's escape from prison to France (all this from the books). In the books, also, Percy did inform Lord John of the threat against William. Moving on, Jane killed Captain Harkness because he was a depraved and sadistic pervert who toyed and tortured the women he paid for. Jane had first hand knowledge of him, so she wasn't going to let him lay his sadistic paws on her little sister. She planned and executed her plan to rid the world of this bastard (who could blame her, besides the British Army who didn't have a great track record when dealing with women?). One last point I'd like to make. If you can, go back and rewatch the "Shootout at the OK Corral" as it was called in the books. Freeze frame the picture of "Callahan" and take a good look at his face. Think about where you've seen it before. Major clue there.
