You mentioned that angels were made to seem so scary at the time, and there are some people who complain that eventually angels became so weak in the show, and they claim that it's a retcon to make the angels go from these mythic creatures that seem unbeatable and devastating into just another supernatural creature. However, I see the angels progression this way: Until Cas shows up, angels were NEVER seen on earth. They almost never left heaven, and the few that did, stayed invisible and completely hidden. So, their mythos would have been very much intact, no one knew anything about them, only that they were incredibly powerful, and seemingly couldn't be killed. Eventually, however, their secrets were learned. They could be killed with an angel blade, which were very difficult to come by in the beginning, but eventually enough angels died, leaving behind their blades, that it became easier to find one. Then Cas gave up some more secrets (the angels could be trapped in holy fire, their vessels could be burned up with holy fire) and more of the angels' infallibility was lost. Finally, at the end of S8 the angels fell to earth and began slaughtering each other by the hundreds, and their numbers began to dwindle. When that happened, I believe a lot of the angel mojo began to be lost. I think the angels garnered much of their strength from their numbers. When they started to become fewer and fewer, their strength lessened. Anyway, that's my rambling explanation for why angels started so terrifying and strong, but lost a lot of that strength over time. I don't think it was a case of the writer's retconning their strength, I think it was gradual and logical. Anyway, Lazarus Rising is a nearly perfect episode, in my opinion. Dean climbing out of his grave, his reunion with Bobby and then with Sam! 😭 I hate Ruby with a fiery passion, but I have to laugh at her being a brat when Dean comes to see Sam and she's like, "So, are you two like...together?" She obviously knows and is just being a jerk! 😄 Yes, Sam was drinking demon blood at this point. He stops after 4x4 for a little while, but eventually (in 4x10, I believe) Ruby tells him his abilities are "getting flabby" and he doesn't like feeling weaker again. So he starts drinking it again in 4x16. She just twists him and manipulates him so perfectly. 😭 I'm so glad you're enjoying season 15 so much! I'm loving watching it with you. I agree that I think there are so many amazing episodes in this season, this was another great one for sure. So happy to get Jack back!! But, I assume you realized in the end, eating the Grigori hearts didn't give him any of his soul back. It just gave him strength, the beginning of the plan to get him strong enough to take on God. Everything in the pool hall was wonderful!! Letting the boys return to their days of pool hustling is a wonderful call back, for sure! And yes, of course, Jensen really did do the pool trick of jumping the ball. And according to a tweet from one of the camera men, that was the first take. Because there is quite literally nothing the man can't do! Lol! I loved that Fortuna recognized the boys as the true, legendary heroes they are. (Which is kind of awesome, because those ancient heroes were often pitted against the gods and on the side of humans, which is a pretty fabulous little analogy!) Anyway, I'm so sorry for this insane novel. Didn't you miss my ridiculous rambling comments? 🙄😁 Can't wait for the next one, of course. ❤️
