Breaking Bad 5x16 - "Felina" FULL REACTION

I'M SO SAD

Breaking Bad 5x16 - "Felina" FULL REACTION

Comments

El Camino takes up right where this episode ends. It follows Jesse's story from when he races out of the compound in Todd's car. Felina wraps up all the loose ends, except for a couple of minor things. Is the meth head Tucker still digging a hole in his front yard?! Is Hugh Babineau still waiting for Hank to come back to the motel? This episode is the best final one of any tv series I have ever watched.

I second that and i absolutely hate to say it. The sentiment, not the details. In my mind it's a non-cannon movie, the ending of the series was what was needed. '' If you want it, do it yourself'' and renewed hope .

The behind the scenes feature on this episode, had Vince Gilligan showing how they filmed the machine gun death scene. They had fireworks inside the cabin timed to go off synchronized with the gun. They had to clear the set and film the inside scenes with no one inside and merged the scenes with the actors falling inside. They used blanks for the machine gun, but blanks are very dangerous, and they actually punched through the metal of the car. Vince Gilligan appeared on an episode of myth busters where they tried that stunt with real bullets. It tested very plausible, because 200 rounds flying around in that small of a space punctured every dummy they had set up inside, even the ones on the floor. So it was unlikely that anyone would survive. The wound that Walt had, obviously hit a major organ, and even if help arrived instantly, he would have bled out. Also, there is no way Walt could have stood up and walked to the meth lab with that wound unless he was high on meth. That ending song "Baby Blue" was a great choice. Fits perfectly.

All that happened in this series was only in a 2 year period!

Walt originally was going to have himself and Jesse killed with the rest, since he blamed Jesse for Hanks death. After Walt saw how broken Jesse was, he decided to save him by covering him with his body.

My favorite quote from this episode: "I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. And, I was really... I was alive.” So many beautiful moments in this episode to wrap it all up. Everything from Walt admitting to Skyler that he did it for himself, to the mutual goodbye nod between Walt and Jesse, and finally Walt dying in a place he felt the most alive. But there was also one depressing detail it looks like you missed. Skyler's shadow in the nursery after Walt left was filmed at an angle similar to how someone who's hanged themselves, possibly to symbolize how dead she felt on the inside after everything Walt had put her through. But that's open to interpretation. Was quite the journey to watch all of this with you. A lot of dark and emotional moments throughout this series with complex, grey characters. I think it does a great job at showing how there's always more than one side to everyone's story. Life isn't black and white. I appreciate how real and reflected your reactions were, and I'm very looking forward to continue with Better Call Saul and whatever else you are going to react to :)

I highly recommend "El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie" (2019). An excellent movie. "career-best performance from Aaron Paul."

I would advise you to let people form their own opinion.

El Camino is terrible. Unnecessary universe, and Breaking Bad's Series Ending ruining kinda terrible. Amongst its countless egregiousnesses, and there are A LOT, we're supposed to just buy Todd gaining like five hundred lbs in a day... lmao; get outta here with that... I regret *EVER* giving it the time of day, and have successfully burnt it out of my brain since. Z E R O merit in consuming it. Vince got wayyyy too full of himself with that one. Eugh. Better Call Saul on the other hand........ TL;DR : Breaking Bad ended perfectly. With our own interpretations of what happened to Jesse, et al...

End of an era :(

Hi Evie, I hope you do watch El Camino. Breaking Bad ended in 2013 and it was 6 years later when El Camino came out in 2019. There is also a BTS documentary that you can react to. If you were watching BB on Netflix, all these are at the bottom of the page under the Breaking Bad Collection. The actors talk about what it was like coming back together after 6 years. Unfortunately, if you saw the thumbnail before this episode, you got a spoiler.

Tara

Can’t wait for you to continue the BB Universe!
