2024-07-28 00:03:20 +0000 UTCYay!... 😄 You know there's a lot of fun stuff about this. There is a movie from 1951 that this was inspired by. It is also famous. The original "Thing From Another World" is a favorite of folks in the Antarctic research base where the winter is deadly harsh. When all the researchers leave for the winter only a skeleton crew is left behind as they have to shutter everything down. As the last plane is leaving they put on 2 movies and the 1951 movie is one of them. It's a fun way to cope with the coming isolation 😮 It's a great early science fiction movie.

2024-07-27 21:13:55 +0000 UTCoh I must watch this! Everyone has a fan theory - I have one too. Mine is that anyone who is drinking alcohol is human. This is totally unproven of course. But notice how they focus on drinking all the time. My theory is that alcohol is a poison to the body and there's no reason for the Thing to drink because it has no emotions to control and suppress, thus no reason to drink.

2024-07-27 18:15:08 +0000 UTCIf you understand Norwegian the film would be alot different because the guy trying to shot the dog at the beginning was yelling, "Get the hell outta there. That's not a dog, it's some sort of thing! It's imitating a dog, it isn't real! Get away, you idiots!"
