I didn't love this episode the first time I saw it, rating it probably around a 6 or 7 that first time. But subsequent rewatches have made me appreciate it more so now it's a solid 8. Lily's story is SO heartbreaking. You're 100% right that being a parent makes stories about losing a child a thousand times more visceral and real for you. And the scream from Lily when Ishim kills her daughter right in front of her while she's powerless to stop him - chilling and heartbreaking. I love Dean and Cas' bickering, and I love that Dean was able to better express at the end that he's not mad, he's worried. Earlier in his life, I don't know if Dean would have been able to make that very important distinction, at least not so quickly. He's growing and I love it. Fabulous reaction - the next episode is a favourite, so I'm excited to watch it!!
