2023-08-15 19:07:46 +0000 UTCThis is a great episode, I love the bonding between Joel and Ellie too. I was also emotional to hear them laughing together at the end. Cause you're right, I feel like it's been ages since Joel's actually laughed. 😞 One of my favourite moments between them is one that Ellie doesn't even know happened. When they're camping and Ellie asks him to reassure her that no one is going to find them. And he does. But then once she's asleep, he gets up and stands guard all night to make sure she's safe. 🥺 It's such a protective dad thing to do. ❤️ I'm pretty sure the road block was put up on purpose to force anyone coming through the area, to have to go through the town, where the group ambushes them. They definitely attacked them to steal their stuff and not because they were worried about them being infected, or anything that innocent. Otherwise, they wouldn't have forced them to come through the town to begin with. Also, when they had them pinned down in the laundromat, they were yelling at them "Give us your stuff and you can go." Course they were shouting that after they were already shooting at them, and had already tried to kill them. So, I don't blame Joel for not believing their crap, and shooting back. Regardless, that scene where Ellie shoots Bryan is brutal and kind of heartbreaking all around. Obviously he was trying to kill them, that is, until he was at a disadvantage, then he was begging for his life and all of a sudden wanted to be friends. So, again, I don't blame Joel (or Ellie ofc) for shooting him. But it was brutal, and I feel terrible for Ellie. But I also do feel bad for Bryan. Because in another world, in a different set of circumstances (where the world wasn't an apocolyptic hellscape) Bryan probably would have just been a nice, goofy young guy. But of course we won't ever know. All in all it was very brutal. 😨 Kathleen is a very interesting character, and Melanie Lynskey IS an amazing actress! She's fabulous in the role. I was happy to see her too. That was a heck of a place to leave off the episode. So looking forward to the next one with you. 😊

2023-08-12 22:51:52 +0000 UTCHi Evie, the actress that you recognized, Kathleen, is the leader of this group of people. The guy with the long hair and beard who appears to be her second in command is the actor who plays Tommy in the video game. They sabotaged Joel and Ellie to steal their supplies. I remember watching this with a reactor about a year ago who grew up in Alberta and she recognized some of the scenery at the beginning of the episode when they were driving. I believe the majority of the show, if not all was filmed in Alberta. I love Ellie and her book of puns and to see how she is slowly getting Joel to lower his guard with her until they have that moment when they are both laughing. I believe he is afraid to let her get close and had been holding her at arm’s length because he doesn’t want to get hurt again if something happens to her like Sarah. They’ve come along way since the first episode and we don’t know how long they have been traveling together. God I love this show! Pedro and Bella are just so good.. When you get to the end of the season, you should watch The Making of TLOU. We hear from the show creators and the actors, it’s really interesting to hear from them.
