Yes! I meant to mention to Evie that Stellan Skarsgård aka Professor Lambeau was also Erik Selvig in the MCU. 😊

What an amazing reaction! I absolutely loved this! Good Will Hunting is definitely up in the top tier of favourite movies for me. It's so incredibly well acted, written, and directed. Even the score and soundtrack adds to the atmosphere and feel of the film. You're right, every scene between Will and Sean is perfect - perfectly paced, the back and forth between them is just a masterclass in acting. The scene by the lake when Sean is calling Will out on his BS is one of the best monologues in film, I believe, and Robin Williams delivered it with absolute authenticity and heft. Just. Perfect. He won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for this role and he absolutely deserved it! I still cry like a baby every time I see the "It's not your fault" scene between them. It builds so amazingly; Will's reactions just rip your heart out. He needed to hear that from Sean so badly. I also really appreciate a small moment of directing right after that scene. The scene is so heavy, so heartbreaking, and raw and full of emotion, so right after we get a minute or two of Will just riding the train, while the score plays softly. It's beautiful because we get to process what we just saw happen, which is clearly what Will is doing, riding all night. It's a lovely moment for the character and the audience to just digest things. Gus Van Sant did a fabulous job with the movie. I'm so glad you got to see this one, I've voted for it every time. 😁 I was sure you were going to love it. Oh, and I just started watching Shameless (still on the first season) but I already love Lip so much, and I can see the similarities even this early on. He's my favourite character so far. Though, I do love Ian too! Anyway, this was awesome! as always.

Hi Evie, great reaction! I saw this movie when it first came out and I remember thinking that I could never write anything like this at any age. Ben and Matt wrote this when they were in their twenties. The scene with Robin Williams talking to Matt Damon on the park bench gets me every time. When the movie came out, Ben was 25 and Matt was 27. They won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and Robin Williams won Best Supporting Actor. Ben and Matt were childhood friends and grew up together in Boston. Yes, that is a Boston accent you hear. They really laid the accent on thick for the movie. The other friend in their group, Morgan, is actually Ben’s younger brother Casey Affleck. He and Matt were in the Ocean’s 11 movies. Oh and the professor was the physicist from the movies Thor and The Avengers. Winning the Academy Award for this movie really established Ben and Matt in their careers and they haven’t looked back.
