I think with shows that are presenting history, it's important for the audience to know how accurate they will be and this show is very upfront about their dramatization of things with the "an occasionally true story" bit at the beginning because people often go into these type of shows expecting complete accuracy which just isn't realistic. If you enjoyed this first episode then I definitely think you'll enjoy the rest because as I said in my previous comment to Evie, they do a good job of toeing the line of drama and comedy and the characters are incredibly intriguing.

2023-07-18 23:10:44 +0000 UTCThis is an "occasionally true story" about Catherine the Great. I love this show because while it has its serious moments, it also doesn't take itself too seriously and has a good balance between drama and comedy. Catherine definitely has this romanticized view of the world and she's adorable. Peter can be an asshole, but his development is fun to watch. I also hate that he's as funny as he is because it makes it hard to completely hate him, at least for me. I love that determined look from Catherine at the end. She's been torn down through this entire episode and now she finally found her purpose. And yes, if Peter dies then she becomes the ruler. The aesthetics of this show are so so nice.
