Fabulous reaction, Evie! Love this movie, love that you loved it too. π I think some of the fandom were bothered by the reveal that The Mandarin was just Trevor, because (I think) that doesn't happen in the comics, and The Mandarin is an actual big bad. I might be wrong cause I've never read any of the comics. But because I'd never read the comics, I thought it was a great twist that The Mandarin was just a front to create fear. Also, I absolutely love Trevor and all his interactions with Tony. I laughed so hard the first time I watched this, when that one henchman of Killian's just gave up and was like, "Honestly, I hate workin' here, they are so weird." ππ So out of the blue and awesome! I also really appreciated the fact that they gave us Tony dealing with the PTSD of what happened in New York. It was really, refreshingly, truthful, and humanized this amazing super hero in a really incredible way. He's still Tony, still full of sarcasm and snark, and we love him for that of course, but it's very real that he'd be struggling to deal with everything he went through, and the fear that he simply won't be able to protect the world, and everyone he loves in it, from all the horrible insanity in the universe. I loved this last Iron Man movie and how they managed to provide the trilogy (within this massive saga!) with an ending. Even while knowing that Tony will obviously be back in future MCU films, this felt cathartic. Fantastic reaction! Looking forward to the next one up - Thor: The Dark World. β€οΈ

2023-07-08 19:25:58 +0000 UTCHey Evie, I also love Tony. Iβm a sucker for sarcastic humor and I completely agree with you about showing Tony experiencing PTSD. I think that was very smart. Iβm sad itβs the last of the Iron Man movies, but happy that we will see him again in the Avengers. I remember when I saw this for the first time, I was thinking βWhy donβt you call one of the Avengers for backupβ But in the next Captain America movie, I was thinking βWhy donβt you call Tony for backup?β lol The guy who plays Happy, is Jon Favreau, and he directed the first two Iron Man movies and we see him show up again in the MCU. I donβt know if you remember, but he played Monicaβs billionaire boyfriend, Pete on Friends. Also, the actor who played Trevor, the Mandarin, is a very well known British actor named Sir Ben Kingsley who has won several awards and accolades over the past five decades, so it was fun seeing him in this role because he is known for playing dramatic roles like Gandhi and in Schindlerβs List just to name a couple.
