What did you think of this episode??

Ohhh that's true! apart from being a liiiiittle (a lot) crazy hahah I guess Martin wasn't the most dangerous hunter to send to watch Benny, that's something I didn't really consider! Also the fact that Dean also feels jealous of Amelia! it is frustrating to watch, I'm looking forward to them resolving their issues :(

Great reaction, Evie! I always like watching Supernatural with you. To me, the fact that Sam chose Martin to watch Benny shows that he didn’t actually think Benny was a huge threat, otherwise he would have picked someone more stable. I don’t blame him for having Benny watched (I mentioned last time I posted that I don’t believe Dean would trust Sam's friend for a minute if the situations were reversed). However, he made a really bad choice by using Martin, and he should have anticipated potential issues with him. And I do agree with Linda that his motivations are more guilt and jealousy than true fear of Benny being bad, but this situation did look incriminating fir Benny. I do think Sam was in the wrong here, but I don’t blame him for not just trusting Dean's word while Dean is constantly telling him he (Sam) isn’t trustworthy. Issues. For me, the fact that Dean already had switched Amelia's number "just in case" he needed it is manipulative and not okay But, what’s worse, to me, is him doing this knowing Sam's history. Jess burned on the ceiling, Sam was afraid to try anything with Sarah in case she got hurt, he had to kill Madison in Heart, and has basically avoided dating anyone since (Ruby was not a real relationship). Sam has more than the average person's fear of his partner being hurt/killed because of his past, so I found this really cruel. I, and most of the audience probably, dislike Amelia, so it makes it harder to empathize with Sam. But this is one of Sam's worst nightmares. And Dean is dismissive about Sam's reaction. He needed him out of the way, so he did it (no matter the panic it caused), it’s very the ends justify the means. Hangover of purgatory. I love how much Dean trusts Benny though, and Benny is a great character. Side note: this Season hammers home for me that Dean values brotherhood and family quite high above romantic relationships since he’s been dismissive of Sam being in a relationship a few times. He doesn’t seem to take them seriously (maybe partly because of what happened with him and Lisa making him see romantic relationships as pointless for hunters, or maybe he just naturally values brotherhood more). This is a big reason why I don’t really ship Dean with anyone because, while he still loves women and sex, he truly doesn’t seem to want an relationship anymore. Final thoughts: Sam is definitely jealous of Benny, but Dean is also jealous of Amelia. Both brothers are basically a mess this season and both are occasionally passive aggressive, largely due to their experiences in their year apart, but also because of underlying past issues. It’s painful and frustrating for me to watch. Also, I am so so sick of Amelia.

This is a tough episode, so many misunderstandings, and hard situations. I agree with everything you said in your wrap up. Martin was definitely in the wrong, and completely unhinged. Dean was 100% right, he for sure shouldn't have been hunting. I do also understand Sam's reticence about the whole thing, and understand that the situation does look questionable. But the reality is, if he wasn't so blinded by his jealousy of Benny and his guilt that Benny got Dean out of Purgatory when he didn't, I think he would have been more than willing to trust Dean's instincts, at least enough to go with Dean and check the situation out for himself. I mean, Sam is usually the one most willing to give monsters the benefit of the doubt. But that has never been the case with Benny, and, imo, the only reason for that is jealousy and guilt. 🙁 I do think Dean sending Sam the text message was mean, but I do also understand why he did it. Benny's life (and possibly Sam's too!) was at stake, and Sam wasn't listening to reason, so he had to get him out of there somehow. But I do feel terrible for Sam, knowing how scared he must have been racing to Amelia and not knowing what was wrong. Your reaction to the first flashback, "Ugh! This again!" made me laugh a lot! Cause I'm so with you, every time I see that dissolve into that saturated colour palette I just groan. 😄 I just don't care, at this point. Watching this the first time through, I just needed Amelia OUT of the story. LOL! And yes, I'm much sadder that Sam had to leave Dog, than the fact that he left her. 😏 It's such a tiny moment, but I absolutely love the scene towards the end of the episode where Dean comes to find Elizabeth sitting on the steps of the diner. What he does there is so quintessentially Dean to me. He has no idea what's inside but he knows it's likely to be something grisly, and possibly very sad and gut-wrenching if Benny is dead. Yet, he can't help but stop to help Elizabeth. He can see how distraught she is, and that she's still bleeding a bit, so he puts his handkerchief to her neck to take care of her wound, and offers her a bit of comfort and reassurance. It's brief, but it's so sweet, and so Dean - he just has to help her somehow. 🥺🥺 They only share the screen for like five minutes total, but hey - I ship it! 😁 And poor Benny - how difficult it must be after all that time in Purgatory without the hunger to be constantly faced with temptation. And now to have to sever ties with the person that was helping him stay on the straight and narrow. Ugh! Martin is the worst - can't say I'm overly heartbroken that Benny killed him. Anyway, fabulous reaction! Love, loving the twice a week reactions! ❤️
