I so strongly agree with this. Amelia is the actual worst. If that story line had to happen, the girl Sam was with should be amazing, not an annoying jerk. I also don’t like the fighting, and agree that it starts to really pick up from the next episodes. (I think Jimmy's wife is named Amelia.)

I’m glad others can see there’s more going on with Sam and his motivations than just being "bitchy," since some viewers just write him off here. I still don’t think Dean is wrong to be hurt in all this, either.

2023-04-23 00:51:25 +0000 UTCThis episode is ok. Not great but not bad. The next two i really enjoy. And soon, for me, season 8 really takes off. I just don't like a lot of the beginning of this season. Whether is not liking the fighting between Sam and Dean or my absolute hatred of Amelia I don't know. I can't even watch Sam and Amelia scenes, I just don't care and I can't stand her. But great reaction Evie. I do like Garth too, and I think he is very strong in this episode. Lastly, does anyone know why Jimmy's (Cas' vessel) wife and Sam's girlfriend have the same name? Amelia. Or am I mis-remembering Jimmy's wife's name?

I hope they behave themselves and give the techs a good peek! Beth (my daughter) kept mooning us every time they looked, and it wasn't till our third try that she actually let us know. 😄 Secondly!! Right ON!!! Twice weekly SPN from now on!! *does a happy dance!* Yes, 8x07 and 8x08 are AMAZING!! 2023-04-22 20:52:49 +0000 UTCLove to read your comments as always!! & funny you would mention it, I recorded 8x07 and 8x08 today…… BECAUSE WE’RE STARTING NEXT WEEK (so next Sat 8x07, then Wed 8x08 and so on) I’m so freaking excited I loved both those episodes!!! I’m taking some advance on recording because it’s my birthday on the 27th AND I have the appointment to find out the sex of the baby on May 1st😋

2023-04-22 20:51:48 +0000 UTCSo, I partly agree with the points regarding Sam and how he feels about Benny, but I do have a few things I feel differently about. I don’t see Sam as thinking of Benny as Amy so much as thinking of him like he’s Ruby (Amy was just the quick excuse he gives): A monster that helped save his brother, but who might not actually be trustworthy and could betray him in the end. Also, Dean is kind of rubbing it in Sam's face with Benny, which isn’t going to make him like the guy more. Part of what had Dean calling Sam a monster back in Season 4 was his drinking Demon blood, but now Dean considers another blood drinking "monster" to be the most trusted person in his life. Finally, we know from experience that if Sam had turned up with a monster friend, Dean wouldn’t trust it for a minute. So, while we, as an audience, know that Benny is good, Sam doesn’t, so saying he should just trust Dean (who has been somewhat hostile with him-understandably-since he got back) when Dean would be unlikely to trust Sam's word in the same situation feels a bit unfair. All that being said, I also think Sam's guilt is definitely playing a part in how he’s acting, and I don’t even think he’s right, but I think his feelings about Benny are more understandable then how the show frames them. Finally, I believe Sam stopped looking for Dean, not never lifted a finder to look at all, which still isn’t great, but isn’t the same thing. Mostly, I think he just gave up after going through too much for years on end, not because he didn’t care. BUT, I still think it’s OOC for him regardless (we’ve seen him go unhinged at losing Dean). I think the show deliberately started Sam out this season as unsympathetic for story-telling purposes without necessarily respecting the character or what we have seen of him in the past.

I think it's unfair of Sam to judge Dean for Benny, for many reasons. First of all, to me, it's really not the same as what happened with Amy. Amy was actively killing humans. (Her reasons may have been understandable, but she was still killing them.) Benny hadn't been killing humans even when he was on earth 50 years ago, and he's not killing them now. Dean has already said that if Benny slips up, and another hunter kills him, he's fine with that. But as of now, Benny has only ever been his friend, saved his life countless times in Purgatory, and helped him get out. All while harming 0 humans. So, it's really not comparable with a girl Sam met and liked 20 years prior who was currently, actively killing people. I also agree that Dean has the right to be very hurt, and it's very understandable that he feels betrayed. In fact, I think one of the reasons Sam is so angry in that last scene is that he knows Dean is right; he knows he did in fact betray him by not even looking for him. And one of the reasons he's so angry about Benny is because he knows Dean is 100% right in saying Benny is the only reason he's not "roasting on a spit in Purgatory". Again, he knows Benny did better than he did in this situation, and it hurts him to face his mistake. Like you, I totally understand Sam not wanting to hunt, and of course he has the absolute right not to. But to not even TRY to find out if the person who raised you, protected you - went to hell for you! - is even alive? Well, that's a betrayal in my books. And I think if Sam would accept that he made a mistake, and that it wasn't okay to not even find out if Dean was dead or alive, both he and Dean would feel better and be more ready to move on. I love Sam with my whole heart, and I really do understand his motivations for walking away from the life, but, imo, the way he did it was just plain wrong. Amelia...I was also completely unimpressed with her here. Like, I felt bad for her when she was talking about Don, but that was the extent of my concern for her because, quite frankly, I found her to be a giant bitch after that. Like, wtf, lady? She was so whiny the next morning, like - "Don't pity me!" 🤨🤨 Where did she get that Sam was pitying her? And then, when Sam comes back and tells her AGAIN that he doesn't pity her, that neither of them are to be pitied, that he lost his brother and it ripped his world apart, she's like, "Was that supposed to be a pep talk? Cause now I pity you." What?! Like, what is wrong with you? 🤨🫤 Why would you be so offended at the thought of being pitied, and then tell Sam that you pity him? And then Sam thinks maybe she wants to talk about the night before and them sleeping together, and she's like, "Pervert!" 😠😠 Again - what?!! I realize she's "joking" but her attitude just grates on me. The look on your face during the "morning after" scene is 100% the exact face I was making. Lol! I LOVE Garth - he's absolutely fabulous, and I love the scenes between he and Dean. And it's awesome that he's trying to fill the gaping whole Bobby left behind in the hunting community. And I love that he won't let Dean get out of hug time. Dean needs more people like that in his life. 😍 Btw, your reaction to Dean in his suit towards the beginning of the episode - right there with you! 😄 He's exceptionally hot this season! I mean, let's be real, he's exceptionally hot in every season - and just wait for S9! - but he really is altogether yummy in S8. Next episode is FABULOUS and I can't wait to see your reaction, as always! P.S. Absolutely no pressure at all, and I'm just asking out of my own sense of curiosity, but do you happen to have a ballpark on when you might start up 2 SPN episodes a week again? My thirsty little SPN loving heart is very excited for it! 😊❤️
